Chapter 81: Chill To The Bone

As she looked all around her, she mused, "I can see why you like staying up here on your own."

Kloud signaled her to a spot in the snow.

"The world is filled with too much noise sometimes. It's good to have peace and quiet every so often," he replied as she lay down.

Safira shifted back into her human form. She could feel the chill in her bones, but the jerky he had given her seemed to be working. After a few minutes, she didn't feel any different from when she was at ground level.

"This jerky works like a charm, what is it made of?" She asked out of curiosity.

It had a slight gamey taste but it was well seasoned with spices, with a fiery kick. It was unlike anything she had ever tried before.

"Wolf meat," Kloud replied without skipping a beat as he looked her dead in the eye. The color drained from Safira's face as she widened her eyes in shock. Kloud's subsequent laughter echoed through the cave. Eventually, she laughed along too.

"You got me good," she mused.
