Chapter 14: They See Me Trollin

It has been a few days. Neville and Ron got new wands and I got Pettigrew. Oh if I didn't need him I would have loved to use him for my research. Luckily, for him, I had to send him to Madam Bones with a note telling her who it was while also implying that he, an elder gentlemen, has been hanging around the likes of young children and probably touching them. I mean as a rat in the train he was on Rons lap so I am technically not wrong.

I also gained Animal Magnetism today from my sign in today. It makes me more approachable to animals and makes them calmer in my presence

"Professor McGonagall!" I say raising my hand as we were attending her class first today

"Yes Mr Black?" She said looking at me

"On our first day you showed us your animagus form, which is a cat."

"Yes I am aware"

"Well I read about a thing called Parseltongue in the library that let's a person talk to snakes and I was curious if animagus could also communicate with their respective animals. So can you talk to other cats or kneazles?"

"Hm that is something that would be brought up later in your Hogwarts Years but to answer your question no I can not talk to cats. An animagus is wizard who bonds with his spirit animal to the point they can take the animals shape. With this comes certain traits, instincts, and sometimes certain abilities. But as for talking with others of the species it isn't so much verbal communication but rather an instinctual knowledge of the others intents and understanding of their body language."

"Fascinating" I say as I heard her answer. It wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear but it was good to know nonetheless. "What if someone spent a very long time in their Animagus form, would that have side effects?"

"I believe there was one wizard who spent almost 20 years as his animagus form. Edgar McDowl was a horse animagus and he hide as his animagus for years after committing a crime. When he was finally caught and forced back to his human form he was a bit misshapen" She pauses for a moment to remember the details "His fingers were stuck together trying to form back into hooves, his ears were longer, his mouth jutted forward and he had a habit of neighing in each sentence he spoke. That is the danger of staying in your animagus form for years but a few weeks or even months tend to be relatively safe according to studies"

In charms we were finally going over the levitation charm which I, Harry, Neville and my four Slytherin friends had already mastered. Ron wasn't interested in doing extra practice. Which is showing now as he wasn't getting the spell right and just like in canon Hermione tries to help him. But him being irritated caused him to lash out at her for a moment.

As soon as the class ended Hermione ran out the door and I smacked Ron over the head

"Ow! What was that for?" he said rubbing his head

"For lashing out on someone trying to help you. You really hurt her feelings."

He sighs "Yea I was a bloody git. I'll apologize to her at lunch"

"Good, I wouldn't want to have to get your brothers on you"

He shudders "Got it mate."

At lunch there is no Hermione to apologize to for him. I know where she is but I am thinking about how I want to deal with it. I could let canon play out but decided against that since it won't go as canon now that Harry knows more which will add unwanted variables. I could do it the easy way quickly kill the troll or the hard way to get some experience in using a new spell while brushing up on my martial arts. Decisions decisions.

The doors burst open and Quirrelmort rushes in, welp easy way it is then. "Troooooll Trooll in the dungeons! Troll in the dungeons!" He stops before the head table "Though you outta know" then he 'faints'. Everyone begins to panic.

"Quuuuuiet!" Shouts out Dumbles, most likely using a Sonorous Spell "Prefects lead your houses to their dorm rooms while we go after the troll." Now this is where I could point out how the dungeons are were the Puffs and Snakes dorms are at and the 'location' of the troll. But instead of doing that I turn to look at Theo "Be back soon, I'm going hunting!" I say before I quickly leave to head to that bathroom.

Yea I am probably going to be told off about this but this is a good way to do something or other. Ok I just want to kill the troll. Don't judge me for my reasons!

I could smell the troll before I saw it just as it turned to enter the girls bathroom. Running forward quickly I got my first look at the behemoth and by the Gods was it ugly! Twelve feet tall, grey skin, a lumpy body with spike looking things on it's legs and two large bulbous toes on each foot. It's head looks like a weird grey potato! SHRIEK! Oh crap I got lost in my thoughts.

"Alex what are you doing here?" Harry said as he and Ron just showed up

"Shut up and just distract it for a moment!" I give him a push to the side "I got a plan."

Ron quickly shouts "Oi Ugly" to distract the troll and trolls being ridiculously stupid immediately turned to face the red head

I bring up some debree and transform them into rather large spear like needles "Oi potato head!" The troll looks at me "Depulso!" I shout causing my needle spears to push forward quickly and impale the troll on five different spots on it's body. Though this only stumbles the troll a bit so I use my next spell making a zig zag with my wand before stabbing it forward I yell "Fulgura Strata!" And just like Sidious Hands electricity burst from my wand and latches onto the metal needles. Sending thousands of volts directly into the trolls body causing it to convulse and collapse. I am unsure if it is still alive.

"… Well that happened." I say before getting glomped by the bushy haired book worm "Thank you!" She then does the same to Ron and Harry "Y-you all came to save me" she sniffles. Hm this is more believable than movie. No one has their first near death experience and remains calm after like Hermione was in the movie.

"It's alright Hermione, your safe" I pat her on the head.

"What happened here?!" Opps. I look over and see McGonagall, Quirrel, Snape, and Dumbledore.

"Well um Hermione was in the bathroom when the troll was announced and not at the feast so I and I guess my brother and Ron had the same idea to go get her. When I got here the troll was already smashing up the bathroom."

"Explain how you dealt with the troll" She said sternly

"Well I had Harry and Ron distract it while I transfigured some of the debree into very large needles then I used the banishing charm to fling them at the troll. It wasn't enough so I used a lightning spell that used the needles as lightning rods to electrocute the troll on the inside."Snape rose a brow at me telling the last part.

"Perhaps the children should proceed to their dorms while we clean up Minerva." said Dumbles

"Very well. Five points from each of you… and Five points for sheer dumb luck. Not many can say they encountered a full grown mountain troll and lived to tell the tale."

"10 points to Slytherin for defeating a mountain troll" said Snape who was looking intensely at me. I merely smile at him as I proceed to the dungeons before stopping

"If the troll is dead I would like to claim Right of Conquest on it." I said before walking away
