Chapter 5: Evacuation Plan

Suddenly, a man in a suit with a more elderly appearance and gray hair opened the door to the room. He entered and asked with a welcoming expression.

"Have you gotten to know each other yet?"

"Who is he?" Koji whispered to Tahiko, still confused about what was happening.

"Oh, how rude of me. My name is Nahome, and I'm part of the Tower's Main Unit," the agent introduced himself, closing the door. "But what about you? It would be good for you to introduce yourselves now."

The Tower was an international intelligence department funded by the world's major powers, aimed at making human coexistence with the Gyakus or even with criminal carriers possible.

Koji, Saik, and Tahiko remained silent, as they were still cautious. Nahome leaned against the wall while lighting a cigarette with a lighter.

"I understand your skepticism, but we don't have much time to waste. I already know that you are carriers, possessing demons within. It will be a great help to us, just tell me your names and your techniques."

"My name is Saik, my technique is Malleable Energy."

Malleable Energy granted the user the ability to freely and versatilely shape the dimensions, forms, and actions of their internal energy. This technique allowed for the creation of various forms and behaviors, adapting to different combat, defense, and utility situations.

For example, Saik could use a small amount of internal energy and transform it into a shield for his defense in a fight.

Regarding energies, demons usually granted two types of power energy to their carriers: internal energy and external energy. Internal energy was solely used in relation to the user's technique, meaning if the technique was used for offense or defense, the cost would be internal energy. External energy was used to enhance their physical abilities, making them faster, stronger, more agile, etc.

"I'm Tahiko, and my technique is Natural Amplitude."

Natural Amplitude was a unique power technique that elevated all human attributes and characteristics to their extreme peak. This technique transformed the user into a superhuman being, enhancing their physical, mental, and sensory capabilities to extraordinary levels. For Tahiko, taking care of his physique had always been his priority.

In this case, Tahiko, as a carrier of a demon that already granted him Natural Amplitude, had the advantage of what he already naturally possessed, which others had through the normality of pacts between demons and humans.

"And you?" Nahome asked, exhaling smoke like a chimney.

"My name is Koji, and my technique is Spheres."

"Spheres? How unusual."

The power technique called Spheres involved the manipulation of dark energy to create powerful and versatile spheres. These spheres were condensations of dark energy, distinct from ordinary matter and energy, often associated with the void of the universe.

The silence of the young carriers filled the room, but Nahome didn't wait long to explain things.

"This place is the last remaining rescue field in the city. Things are pretty chaotic, the soldiers seem like ants dying without even knowing how they died."

"I believe you already know about the creatures, and at this moment, only the region we're in hasn't been evacuated. We will be the last to leave this city."

Unexpectedly, the captain of the Armed Forces in the field, named Williams, opened the door to the room and immediately gave a last-minute warning to Nahome.

"Nahome, we urgently need to leave the city. The region we're in is the only one with humans left. Dynami has been evacuated, and the soldiers can't get close enough to rescue us. We've lost over 25,000 men just trying to evacuate this region. We have no rescue."

The atmosphere was tense, and the desperate screams of the people in the field could be heard from the isolated room.

"How many Gyakus are nearby?" Saik asked as he walked to the corner of the room to put away his book.

"So far, three have been seen close by. We need you. Despite what I've been told about you being something else. I know you're not human, and that's frightening, but now we're allies, and everyone here is counting on you."

Captain Williams was worried, his eyes stinging with the sweat dripping from his forehead.

"Tell us the evacuation plan, captain," Nahome said while extinguishing his cigarette on the wall, trying to understand the military plan.

Ready to execute the evacuation plan, Nahome and the trio of carriers followed the captain to the center of the field. Surrounded by a large crowd, Williams explained the plan.

"There are 60 people here in total. The only safe routes we have at the moment are the three main avenues in this region: the Port Avenue, Central Avenue, and University Avenue. The idea is for each of you, Koji, Saik, and Tahiko, to take care of 20 people and lead them to the far south of Dynami. The last military bases in the city are there."

"Are we far from the avenues?" Koji asked, looking apprehensively at the captain.

"The location of the field is strategic; the avenues are right next to us, and all three are completely straight. So, try to follow the road as much as possible without looking to the sides. Prioritize saving as many lives as possible, and remember, if the creatures appear, kill them ensuring that no person is harmed by anything, understood?"

Williams carefully defined each carrier's path. Koji was responsible for Port Avenue, Saik for Central Avenue, and Tahiko for University Avenue. They received small communication earpieces in case they needed to report anything.

At the beginning of the long Port Avenue, Koji looked at the concrete ground and thought for a moment while twenty people waited for him.

"Dad… you said I wouldn't have any more worries; I guess you were wrong."

"Ready?" Saik asked, in front of his group on Central Avenue.

"Let's go!" Tahiko shouted with enthusiasm and energy on University Avenue.

"Good luck to us all."
