Chapter 4: Chapter 4: The Knowledge Law User Planted in the Vegetable Garden

Whether it was Chen Luo's imagination or not, he always felt a warm current coursing through his body after completing the task of "Snatching the Lollipop from the Little Lolita," as if he had grown slightly stronger.

But the issue remained: when Chen Luo opened his character interface, he found it devoid of information, suggesting that his talent hadn't yet developed the function to display statistics.

Could it be that my talent is still a growth-type talent?

Or perhaps it simply can't calculate combat prowess?

Trash in combat?

Regardless, Chen Luo ran faster now, thanks to the lollipop rewarded by the little Lolita and the five Primordial Stones.

Next, let's see if I can trigger another task.

Chen Luo was starting to realize that his talent wasn't just about being a tool.

As it turned out, helping others—regardless of the method—as long as the goal was achieved, it didn't matter whether they were happy or not.

Could it be that my previous approach to completing tasks was all wrong?

Deep in thought, Chen Luo didn't forget to vault over the railing in front of the guard booth.

This railing stopped small people but not gentlemen.

However, amidst his contemplation, he couldn't shake off the name "Knowledge Law User."

Chen Luo had a vague recollection of hearing that term somewhere before, but he couldn't place where.

And that "Traveler" and "Primordial Stones."

Chen Luo had heard of those too, but they seemed like things from a game.

As a high school student, Chen Luo had no time for games—especially someone like him, who found himself helping others at every opportunity.

At times, he even wondered if he was more of a workaholic than a salaryman.

The difference between Chen Luo and salarymen was clear: they worked for money, whereas Chen Luo worked for progress bars.

Lost in thought, Chen Luo finally arrived at his front door after navigating through numerous detached villas.

The first thing Chen Luo did upon arriving home was to open the task interface and click on "Track."

Instantly, a faint blue pillar of light shot up into the sky, visible only to Chen Luo.

"This direction... seems to lead to the backyard," Chen Luo murmured, observing the pillar of light before dashing towards the rear of the house.

"I hope my meager vegetable patch is okay," Chen Luo muttered under his breath as he sprinted.

Unlike the other residents of the villa area, who preferred planting flowers to cultivate their aesthetics, Chen Luo had taken a different route.

Sadly, his gardening skills left much to be desired, and very few plants managed to survive.

Upon reaching the small backyard that should have been a serene flower bed, Chen Luo discovered a gaping pit instead.

Lying face down in the pit was a humanoid figure, and the few surviving vegetables nearby had been trampled.

"Well, no need to worry about gardening anymore. I can't even remember who wanted to eat the vegetables I grew. But forget it—I won't be taking on gardening tasks now that my talent has awakened."

Chen Luo struggled to recall who had expressed interest in the vegetables, but the task had clearly been a failure; not a single vegetable remained—they had all been destroyed.

"Hey, are you still alive? Say something," Chen Luo prodded the humanoid figure cautiously with a dry twig he found nearby.

While the commission task hadn't indicated failure, Chen Luo assumed the person must be alive. Thus, he tentatively squatted down and lightly touched the person's arm.

"It's warm, which means she's not dead yet—at least not completely. But she looks badly injured. How am I going to heal her? Yunnan Baiyao probably won't cut it," Chen Luo muttered, scratching his head in frustration.

But despite his headache, Chen Luo knew he had to save this person—after all, rescuing her was worth 600 Primordial Stones.

With resolve, Chen Luo summoned his courage, approached the figure, and stepped over her body. Placing his hands under her armpits, he carefully lifted her out of the pit.

"Surprisingly light. Or am I getting stronger?" Chen Luo wondered aloud, slightly puzzled by his newfound strength.

After pulling her out, Chen Luo realized the figure was a girl. Though her face was caked in mud, it was evident she was female.

"Normally, shouldn't I give a girl a princess carry? But..." Chen Luo hesitated, noticing how dirty she was.

Ultimately, he chose gentleness over propriety, cradling the girl gently against his chest.
