Chapter 28: Chapter 27 Fairy Sitting
Seated in a mortal ChaGuan, a fancy tea house, listening to a play were two figures, one listening and watching in enrapt while chewing on salted nuts, and the other drinking his tea while massaging his forehead. One's back facing the stage and the other stooped low thinking, but were beautiful backs, the people in ChaGuan thought, hoping to see what jade-like facial features these two gentlemen had.
How did I get into this situation again? He FeiQuan threw back his tea like he was drinking wine, which he thought darkly that he badly needed to drink some alcohol. But he could not, if anyone from Heavens were to know that he drank in front of a minor, they would think he had corrupted this little fruit.
LiHua had cajoled He FeiQuan that she just needed half incense stick only, no one would know they left and XiaoMing would guard his courtyard. She thought a visit to mortal realm was like she visiting He FeiQuan so easy, they needed to pass Heaven's gate then flew down in his crane form and had to conceal and disguise their Heavenly Qi and their spectacular beautiful figures. LiHua nodded agreeing and saying she knew what she was getting into.
'Did she?! No! I had to do everything and all she had to do was to smile like a silly fruit.' He FeiQuan cried internally.
First, they had to pass the heaven's gates, it was not a big deal since all titled immortals could freely enter and exit, without needing any permit, but He FeiQuan had made an offense with his acquittances - the Divine Guardians in his last entry with LiHua. Both Shensu and Yulu were insulted by He FeiQuan sneaking LiHua into Heavens and they did not notice there was an intruder until they heard there was a new Gold Peach Fairy in Heavens. She was not registered and they could be the first ones to see the new Gold Peach fairies, were He FeiQuan to register and officially enter the heaven's gate.
The previous Gold Peach clan predecessors had all special passes and did not have to pass the heaven's gate, they went directly to their new Heavenly address in the mountain, so Shensu and Yulu, never seen a Gold Peach fairy before.
After trying to appease the stern Divine Guardians, staring down at the Little Prince, LiHua generously decided to help her friend out of his predicament. She lifted her veil and greeted Shensu and Yulu sweetly as big brothers and she had offended them before and asked them to accept her bow of apology.
Both big brothers Divine Guardians widened their eyes upon looking at her impossibly cute and pretty face, with her simple braids on the sides of her face, complimenting her oval frame face. They quickly tried not to let LiHua bow in apology, and gruffly said it was not LiHua's fault since she was still so young and new to Heavens, so could not possibly know what to do. With that said, they gave He FeiQuan the cold stare.
He FeiQuan merely glanced at the poster in front of him, next to the Heavenly gates about new arrival's entry instructions. How secure was this security checkpoint? Clearly, beautiful immortals and womanly wiles could bypass this, but he tactfully caught on and apologize to the guardians, promising to bring a special wine on his next visit as a token of apology. The guardians treated him like air and told LiHua to take care while outside of Heavens.
Well, at least the fruit's smile worked on the Divine Guardians, He FeiQuan thought grudgingly, and told LiHua to switch to her fruit from once they said farewell to the Guardians and out of their sight. They could not let anyone knew how they smuggled in in the first place.
Holding on to the gold fruit in his palm, He FeiQuan then put her securely to his leg. LiHua was full grievances with her low seating quality and her wish to make more prominent friends in Heavens was back in fervor.
Upon landing onto the plain grasses in the woods, LiHua thought He FeiQuan lied to her and took her to the island, which she missed DaShu, but she really wanted to see the mortal realm! He FeiQuan untied LiHua and just told her to disguise herself. What disguise? She could just be a fruit ah? He FeiQuan not wanting another debacle of growing a peach on one side of his chest, disagreed and told her to disguise, and later to find himself in annoyance when LiHua looked at him blankly and shrugged her shoulders. Now he also had to put LiHua into disguise mode himself.
This fruit had no survival skills whatsoever! He stuffed LiHua into his sleeves and went to the town and purchased a half face mask, a set of gentleman clothes and male dark blue hair ribbon, then he had to go into an inn, threw the fruit and the clothes into the room to change. Then the fruit had the gall to tell him that she could not do male hairstyle! He FeiQuan's forehead veins seemed to pop out more than usual, and he took out a comb and combed LiHua's hair into a topknot and used the ribbon to go around and secure the knot. He told himself to breathe in and out and to take this task as if one day, he would also comb his child's hair.
Wait! Wasn't that supposed to be a mother's job? Did this fruit even look at him as a non-family male? Did he take up as an elder sister role for her? He really wanted to go to a corner and weep now.
LiHua looked at her reflection on the brass mirror, "this is so much more comfortable than female's clothes! Thank you for the clothes and the hair!" She pointed to her simple hairdo.
He FeiQuan just nodded, passed her a money pouch, and gestured to leave the inn. Too tired to bother to talk to the troublesome fruit, he had assumed she would follow him closely and when he turned, he was not surprised she was not behind him. They just left the inn for 5 minutes, and the fruit was already lost.
5 minutes!
Who could blame her? The sheltered fairy had only seen the island, the Gold Peach Clan mountain, and the most crowded scene, was when she was a fruit in the Heavenly Hall of Ordainment. The mortal realm must be too exciting for her little fruit brain. He FeiQuan tried to calm himself and scanned the street for the petite fairy disguised as his page.
The town He FeiQuan arrived was actually the busiest part of the city of Cai's Kingdom. The current emperor, Cai ZhenFan, claimed to be the descendant of the general who defeated the despot ruler, Huang Emperor. There were 4 nations now, Cai, Xue, Xuan, and Sheng, and the largest, strongest and most powerful of them was the 3dom, and they had signed a treaty of non-aggressive, making it a peaceful period for the civilians, and commercially the Cai Kingdom thrived.
The main street was bustling with hawkers and merchants showing their wares and they all came from various parts of the world. There were stalls selling sweet snacks, meat buns, small weapons, female accessories, and exotic animals. Behind the stalls were busy restaurants, inns, and bigger stores, such as the bookstore, weapon store, fan store, incense store, medicine store, cosmetic store, painting store and many other different stores, lining up the four major crossroads. There were many pedestrians walking around, some were on their horses, and some were their horse-drawn carriages.
LiHua stared and tried to take in all the sight, skipping from one stall to another, buying trinkets and snacks along the way. The silver He FeiQuan had given her earlier was so useful, she took out one and the sellers grinned from ears to ears, packing her extra stuff. Having money was a good thing ah! Not having He FeiQuan in sight, she might as well enjoy herself until He FeiQuan located her.
He FeiQuan found LiHua clapping happily watching a circus performing swordplay while eating her steamed bun, he unceremoniously yanked her by the collar out of the crowd.
"What if your mask got pulled in the crowd? Follow me or I leave you here on your own." He FeiQuan said tersely and walked towards the Tea House, with LiHua pouting behind him and making silly faces at his back.
