The Dretch appeared in front of the zombies. Its attack method was simple: it would grab hold of the target and then crush its head with its powerful arms.
It was a basic, but highly effective strategy.
The zombies attacks had no effect on the Dretch whatsoever. In fact, they could barely even struggle. Once a zombie's arm made contact with the Dretch, it would stick to it like glue. From that moment, the zombie was doomed to become nothing more than a lifeless corpse.
The Dretch was like a walking fortress, with no visible weaknesses anywhere on its body.
Compared to other demons, the Dretch's fighting style was pathetically simple. Its bulky body made it incapable of performing any kind of intricate moves, but it wasn't completely without merits. Its unique body structure granted it incredible vitality. As long as it wasn't completely torn apart, the Dretch could slowly recover from even the most severe injuries, including having its head blasted into pieces.
It was a living meat shield.
In the bloody battles of the Abyss, Dretches were the most indispensable cannon fodder. Their extraordinary vitality allowed them to pave the way for the more powerful demons behind them.
Chen Feng couldn't help but feel that he was raising such a monster.
The Dretch's body slithered across the ground, grabbing a zombie in its grasp. With a powerful embrace, the zombie was crushed into a pile of mangled flesh.
The flesh didn't go to waste. With a strong squeeze, the Dretch absorbed the remains into its own body, using it as nourishment.
Meanwhile, the Dark Elf dashed towards the Blood Corpse.
She took a deep breath, her speed suddenly increasing. While running, she drew her bowstring, and with a swift motion, loosed an arrow aimed at the Blood Corpse's head.
With a grunt, the Blood Corpse raised its right arm, and the arrow pierced through its wrist. Although the arrow was deflected, it prevented the Blood Corpse from being fatally wounded.
As an undead creature, a zombie's body was mostly composed of decayed flesh. Even if its bones were broken, it would continue to crawl and attack. The only way to kill it was to destroy its head.
"Wooaaargh..."
The Blood Corpse roared, staring at the Dark Elf with a glint of malice in its eyes. It trembled, and the arrow fell to the ground.
Scarlet blood plasma replaced the damaged wound. As a Bronze Realm zombie, the Blood Corpse had the ability to control its own blood. The delicate granulation tissue on its body surged, and with a roar, it lunged at the Dark Elf, its legs propelling it forward with terrifying force.
The Blood Corpse took two steps, arms outstretched and mouth wide open, as if it wanted to devour the Dark Elf. In the blink of an eye, it was almost upon her.
But the Dark Elf remained calm.
She took a deep breath, her pupils dilating slightly. With a quick motion, she drew two arrows, twisted them together, and loosed them simultaneously. The arrows split mid-air, one striking the Blood Corpse's chest and the other piercing its knee, halting its charge.
Multishot!
Seeing her opportunity, the Dark Elf moved like a leopard, her speed so intense that it left a shallow pit in the ground where she had been standing.
Throat Slash!
The Dark Elf's figure flickered in the shadows as she appeared behind the Blood Corpse. She looped her longbow around its neck, dug her knee into its lower back, and with a sudden force, pulled backward.
With a sickening "smack," the Blood Corpse's head was ripped off and fell to the ground.
The Dark Elf had some close combat capabilities.
Her agility made her as deadly as an assassin, and once she got close, few enemies could escape her attacks.
The Blood Corpse fell, and the ordinary zombies around posed no threat to the Dark Elf and the Dretch. The Dark Elf nocked arrow after arrow, each shot sending brains splattering. Within minutes, dozens of bodies lay at her feet.
It had been an easy battle.
The zombie commander was terrified.
Where its face had once shown only malice, fear had now taken hold. Unlike ordinary zombies, this one had some intelligence, enough to express its emotions.
The commander entwined its hands together, and if not for the maggots squirming in its cheeks, it might have looked like a child who had just been caught doing something wrong.
Vicious, fearful, cruel, weak, tearful.
The little girl's face kept changing, struggling to express its thoughts with its Bronze Realm intelligence. Everything that had happened around it left its mind in turmoil.
It was a bizarre sight.
The dark night, the high winds...
A little girl with a rotten face, without legs, was cycling through expressions of sadness, laughter, despair, and viciousness. It was enough to send chills down anyone's spine.
Chen Feng slowly approached the creature, holding his Flame Sword. He looked down at the little girl without the slightest trace of sympathy.
The leader's body trembled before suddenly kneeling on the ground.
Bang!
Bang!
This creature that once controlled a horde of zombies, and could potentially command millions more in the future, was now desperately kowtowing before Chen Feng. The force was so strong that the ground beneath it began to crack.
"Woohoo..." The little girl let out a whimper.
It was actually begging for mercy, abandoning all dignity to desperately plead with Chen Feng.
Indeed, it was a rare kind of zombie.
Chen Feng's face showed a flicker of surprise. A zombie pledging allegiance to him? He had never encountered anything so bizarre.
"Enough," Chen Feng said calmly to the little girl.
Bang!
Bang!
But the little girl continued to bow, its head already deformed, its forehead split open with a gaping wound. Maggots and rotting blood oozed onto the ground, sticky and producing a sickening sound.
"Still bowing? Do you want me to help?" Chen Feng looked down at the little girl and suddenly laughed.
With a swift motion, he lifted his right leg and stomped on the creature's head.
The little girl didn't resist, and her head was immediately smashed into the ground. The power from a Silver Realm warrior passed through the ground, creating spiderweb cracks.
Bang!
Bang
The little girl spread her fingers, gripping the ground as if trying to stand up. But before she could raise her head, a terrifying force struck the back of her skull again.
Chen Feng was relentless, repeating the action over and over.
Smack!
With a crisp sound, like a watermelon bursting, the little girl's head was crushed, brain matter and blood splattering all around.
"In a world where you can't even trust people, you expect me to believe a zombie's promise?" Chen Feng said with disdain, looking at the corpse at his feet. He bent down, grabbed the little girl's left leg, and flung the body backward.
"grkhlf...cokdfj..." The Dretch raised its head and swallowed the commander's corpse whole. It had reached the brink of evolution, and the commander's flesh was a great nourishment for the Dretch.
Two Bronze Realm zombies.
A horde of ordinary zombies.
Chen Feng was now surrounded by corpses, but none were the sacrifices he needed. After advancing to the Silver Realm, he gained the ability to contract two more times, but the mere Bronze Realm corpses were beneath his notice. Summoning with them would be a waste of his hard-earned summoning slots.
"Silver..."
Chen Feng muttered to himself. Compared to the corpses around him, he needed the bodies of Silver Realm experts. Only sacrifices of that caliber would allow him to summon the servants he truly desired.
After ordering the Dretch to clean up the corpses and devour the commander and the other two Bronze zombies, the Dretch's body began to tremble. It was as if boiling water was surging within it, causing its muddy form to quiver.
"Is it about to evolve?" Chen Feng waved his hand, sending the Dretch back to the Abyss. He had a feeling that the next time they met, the Dretch would surprise him.
"As the army's base camp, Qiaodong must have already been mostly cleared. But in this Economic Development Zone, there are still plenty of scattered monsters..."
Chen Feng hesitated for a moment, a gleam flashing in his eyes.
His military status was just a formality; he had no real intention of swearing allegiance to Feng Zhiyong. He preferred the process of growing stronger through combat over being bound by rules.
Chen Feng had made up his mind.
He would stay here for a while longer. Besides honing his skills, if possible, he would... hunt Silver!
Sacrifices.
He needed fresh and powerful corpses to perform his next summoning!
Dretchy is Evolving!!!
