Chapter 285: The dead shan't stop me

[First mission: Kill the traitor marked by red.]

"I should start heading back," Jack urged through the woods as it grew darker. He glanced one last time as Maddock/ Stephan lied dead on the ground next to the many corpses of damned and zombies. They were piled like a small mountain and he felt bad about it. The boy had only showed him hospitality and he was met with betrayal and death.

"Wasn't it better for you to be dead? You suffered. I only gave you the blow of mercy," he said with a hint of smile as if the corpse heard his excuses.

Jack remembered how he met Maddock; he was a good boy back then and not older than he was. They were street comrades; they stuck to each other until he was discovered for the talent of magic he had. Obviously, some would say that he was jealous of him, but Jack wasn't really. He always wanted to be a respectable knight.
