Chapter 265: The dark tree 3

Mike returned to the High Priestess chamber. Strangely, he noticed that if no one allowed any of the Makinas inside, they wouldn't come inside. Ragya had to knock while she simply could have pushed the door open and do what she intended to do: kiss them.

When he got to the chamber, he found Jack lying on the bed, trying to keep calm and relaxed. He was surprised by how thin he was. He wondered how many days passed since they entered the pyramid. The man was in a bad shape; it would take him a while to return to the way he was.

As Jack raised his head and looked at Mike, his expression changed considerably. The calm and relax feeling he was looking for finally settled when he saw his little apprentice.

"Fancy seeing you here, Mike. Where is Stephan?"

"He is in trouble. I intend to recuperate for a moment before heading back. The Makinas won't affect me as long as I don't believe in what they conjure. Are you alright?"
