Chapter 67: Modern World
When Stefan and Tylor reached towards the bookshelf before they could comprehend what was happening, their eyes darkened and both of them lost consciousness.
When Stefan opened his eyes, he found himself in his bedroom. Stefan was confused for a moment and couldn't distinguish between reality and illusion. Soon he realised there was something continuously ringing in his ears.
He opened his eyes and reflexively reached to stop the alarm clock, only to react with surprise. Something was wrong. 'I shouldn't be here', thought Stefan.
But before he could think seriously, his thought process was interrupted by the ringing of a doorbell.
Stefan looked through the spy eye and realized it was someone he knew very well. While straightening, the screeches on his shirt and running his hands through his hair in an attempt to make himself look presentable, he reached out to open the door.
Only before making contact with the door handle, he felt a chill running his spine. Abruptly, he froze and stood still as his eyes widened upon the realization that the person standing outside the door was not someone who was supposed to be alive.
With his very own eyes, he witnessed him being devoured by 'that' person.
'But.... who is 'that' person I am thinking about?', thought Stefan before firmly holding the door's handle and twisting it open.
"What took you so long ?", said Lucas before coming inside and putting the plastic bags on the table.
"Nothing... just woke up, that's why it took some time to get the hang of it", said Stefan as he pondered whether Lucas's voice was always this harsh.
"Oh whatever. So, when should we go to meet your parents?", asked Lucas.
"Pardon? Did you just say, meet my parents?"
"Or what? Don't tell me you forgot your promise so quickly".
"Did I make a promise like that?", asked Stefan in confusion and astonishment.
"I suppose you forgot since it was really hectic yesterday... but, yeah you promised that we will meet up with your parents and then decide on the ceremony", said Lucas carrying an evil grin on his face.
"What ceremony are you talking about here? I think it was really hectic, since I don't remember anything about it"
With a sly smile, Lucas replied, "It's fine even if you don't remember it, since we are just short of the last process, and then we can complete it."
"You are right. I will naturally understand it later," Stefan replied with a vacant gaze and a blank face, nodding his head.

After about two hours later, the doorbell rang again. This time, when Stefan looked through the spy eye, he saw it was his parents that were standing in the hallway carrying a kind smile.
He opened the door eagerly and extended his arms to hug them.
His mother came forward and hugged him while looking at him and warmly asked, "How are you doing, Stefan? Are you eating well these days? You are taking the supplement I asked you to take, right?"
'Supplement? Why am I taking it? Am I ill? If so, how is it possible for me to be unaware about this kind of thing?', thought Stefan suspiciously.
'I have felt something was wrong since the time I met Lucas. Why is he meeting my parents? ... What kind of ceremony is he talking about? .. Why is it that I need to take supplements? Were my parents always this kind?... And.... the most important aspect... why don't I remember any of these things?!.... It's as if these things never happened in the first place.... If so, let's play safe for now and act that I remember everything perfectly.... I'm sure that something just doesn't feel right with them!'
"Of course, I have been taking them, mother. By the way, this is my best friend Lucas" said Stefan while gesturing towards Lucas who got up from his seat and walked towards his parents.
"Hello, aunt, and uncle. I am Lucas. Stefan must have told you about me a lot, since he has known me for a long time now... Right? Stefan?"
"Haha.... yes, off course I have told them about you. Right, dad?", said Stefan awkwardly.
'Have we known each other for that long? I feel something off about this.'
'Adding onto the fact that my parents are acting specially kind towards me. I mean, they were kind, but not this much, .....right?.... Or were they even kind? ..... No wait.... I remember!!!... My parents weren't one of those who will come to visit me occasionally... Plus.... wasn't my father severely injured by someone on his way to the gambling house?'
'Then....' Stefan looked at his parents who were talking kindly talking with Lucas and noticed that all of them oddly had the same kind of smile.
While looking at them with a contemplative look and observing them, 'If they aren't my parents..... then who are they..... what is their motive?.... Also..' Stefan turned towards Lucas, 'Is he really Lucas? But if I remember correctly... Wait!... wasn't Lucas killed by that suspicious figure?! Then...'
"Who are you all? ", questioned Stefan with a nervous look while taking a step back.
All three of them looked towards him in sync with the same kind smile that gradually started looking creepy.
"Ho..ho.... Are we caught?... Took you long enough...", said Lucas, whose face gradually became distorted while he walked closer to Stefan.
As the suspicious figures walked closer towards Stefan, the surrounding space began to twist.
Stefan was taken aback by the abrupt changes and took one more step back towards the door.
"It's too late, dear", said the mother figure with the same kind face.
"What do you mean?" asked Stefan.
"My son, look down.", the father figure looked towards the floor and laughed creepily.
Only then did Stefan notice that the place he was standing was filled with an array. The array looked eerily familiar. As he continued looking at the array, he felt a chill down his spine when he realized what it was actually...
"This.. Isn't this ...!!!!" shocked, Stefan looked at the suspicious figures again. His face paled when he realized the actual function of the array.
As the array lit up with blood-red color, the memory of that day repeated in front of his eyes.
"No!!"
