"You don't expect me to do that," Asher Miller thundered as he slammed his fist on the table.
His action sent cold shivers down the spine of the director present at the board meeting.
The atmosphere was tense. They all went quiet. Except for Mr. Enoch, a top director in the company. "But that's the only way Sarex Incorporated, a renowned business empire, would partner with us. It say you must get married if you want the partnership."
Asher glared and gritted his teeth. "No one has the right to detect what I do. And if I don't."
"Then it means we won't get the partnership. You know how long we have waited for this. It will be of huge benefit to our company. We can't miss out on this. You have just two weeks to get married or we will lose it," Mr. Enoch stated.
The other directors nodded in agreement. They couldn't bring themselves to utter a word.
"Then tell them to go to hell. Let's have the next agenda for this meeting," Asher spat.
Mr. Enoch decided not to press on. He knows Asher very well, and he trusts him to make the right decision.

It's been days since her brother was arrested. She was distraught and overwhelmed.
She needed a good lawyer to help her brother. All she had was not enough to pay for a lawyer.
She couldn't even bring herself to concentrate at work. That afternoon, she was so lost in thought that she didn't even know when Asher walked in.
He tapped her and she jolted from her thoughts with fear in her eyes. "S sir, I am sorry. I didn't see you walk in," she stuttered.
Asher ran his eyes through her. She was a mess, her mascara was smeared from crying and her face was red and swollen. He felt a twitch in his heart.
He sat down on one of the chairs and leaned forward. "Is there anything bothering you? You look terrible."
Sally sniffed. "I don't want to rope you into my issues."
Asher's lips curled up in a smile. Sally was stupefied, she had never seen him smile.
"You already have my attention. You can trust me."
I gulped down hard. "My brother was arrested by the police for illegal possession of drugs. It's a huge case. And I want to see my brother out. I don't want him to rot in jail. I can't even afford a good lawyer. I am ready to do anything for his release."
Asher leaned back on the chair and gazed at her. "Anything you say? I have a solution."
Sally quickly wiped her tears and paid more attention to Asher. "Please, help me."
"Marry me."
Sally's jaw dropped. Maybe her ears were playing tricks on her.
"I don't understand," she said. She darted her eyes around in confusion.
"I have access to the best lawyers in the country that can even defend the worst criminals on earth and have them released. Your brother's case is nothing. With my money and connections I will bring him out. Just marry me and leave the rest to me."
Sally tried to steady herself as her mind kept swirling in thought. She needed to get her brother out and this was her chance to grant freedom to her brother.
"I will marry you," Sally agreed.
"Good, the civil bureau is still open to wed us as man and wife. I will have my P.A make arrangements and have dressed up for the occasion. The earlier the better."
Everything happened swiftly. She was driven to Asher's mansion where his P.A got her ready. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and was amazed at the change. It was an image of sophistication and class.
When she got into the limousine, Asher was on the phone while the chauffeur drove them to the civil bureau for their wedding.
"Yes, inform our partners, I am getting married today. I'd expect them to do the needful," then he ended the call.
He took a look at her and something flashed across his face. Then he looked away.
When we got there, we went in. Other couples were seated waiting to be wedded.
A woman who saw Asher and Sally approached them smiling. "Welcome sir. You may go in."
Another couple grunted in complaint at how they were ignored and Asher who just arrived was attended to.
Sally was surprised at Asher's influence.
Standing before the judge, they exchanged their vows and signed their marriage certificate.
She was now known as Mrs. Miller.
Sally almost swooned in surprise at how everything happened so fast.
She had never imagined that she would be married to Asher.
They were in the limousine, the chauffeur was taking them back to Asher's mansion.
Asher brought out a document. "Here sign this."
Sally collected it and read through it. It says they would be married for two years. And after their divorce, she would be paid 80 million dollars as compensation. She was not expected to fulfil any sexual obligations or give him a child.
She quickly signed it and handed it to Asher.
"I have contacted my lawyers and they will handle your brother's case. I don't want anything from you other than being my wife and attending public events with me. You'll also get a good position in my company," Asher said.
The news about their sudden marriage had spread around the city.
Even blogs and magazines had their pictures. And when she goes, she sees this respect and admiration in their eyes.
Asher bought an expensive car to match her new status as a billionaire's wife.
Driving around town with her battered car won't make any sense. It will surely keep tongues wagging.
Few days later, Sally drove into the police station to see her brother.
He was brought out and she hugged him tightly. "Luke, I missed you so much."
Luke smiled, he was happy to see his sister. They sat down and Luke spoke. " I was surprised to hear that you have hired competent lawyers for this case. How did you do it?"
Then he noticed the ring on his sister's hand.
"Long story. Just know that I will do anything to get you out !!"
