Chapter 4: Crisis!
After we have finished our conversation about who we have to deal with every day and how we do this, I hang up my phone and take medicine. I wanted to talk with Uncle Elliot about our strange condition.
So I called the nurse on duty by ringing the bell. To my relief, there is another young nurse on duty today. After she came in, she started to behave weirdly. Suddenly, she started to have a nosebleed. I looked at her with my mouth agape, not understanding what was actually happening.
"Are you okay?" I asked her, knowing she was not okay. However, this is called human etiquette that I should follow as a caring human being, as I cannot ruin the image of gentle Leo.
"I am okay! By the way, I am called Lily Joan. The senior nurse at Dream Hospital Please call me if you need anything, Mr. Tylor." The nurse named Lily said every word gracefully, even though she seemed sick.
"Can you please call Dr. Elliot? I have something to discuss with him." I asked her politely. As a woman in my soul, I understood after analysing everything that the pretty nurse was shot down by Leo's handsomeness. So, I wanted to draw a clear line, as I don't want to create unnecessary trouble for that devil. He won't let me go if he finds out I am messing around here with his body.
"Yes, I will go now. Please wait a bit. However, I want to say something, can I?" Lily said this while blinking repeatedly and fidgeting with her fingers. She was looking so cute! So, I don't have the heart to turn her down.
"Please continue what you want to say. I have to talk with Dr. Elliot urgently after that." I tried to sound serious.
"Can I have your autograph, please? I am your biggest fan! I have seen your interviews about how uniquely you solve cases. You may not remember, but we met once." Lily said while looking at me with her doe-like eyes. She gave me a pen and paper. I took it and tried to activate the pen, but something pricked my finger.
Suddenly, a thought came into my mind: I want to be sure if this girl has any connection with Leo or not. Or she is a spy or killer to finish Leo off. Although this body is not mine, I have no idea if I can return to it if Leo is dead. So, I have to be super careful.
"Can I know where we met? I cannot remember you, sorry, Lily." I ask carefully so that I don't raise any suspicion. I tried to act like I racked my brain a lot, but I could not find any memory related to her.
"Maybe You forgot our encounter, but it's okay as you have to stay in the hospital for some days. If time permits, we can have a chat in your free time. Now I will go and call Dr. Elliot. I hope after listening to my story you will give me your autograph." Lily said everything in one breath and left the room without hearing my reply.
Sigh. It's so hard to satisfy everyone and be good. I started to think about where Leo could meet this pretty girl. Although our souls swapped, we didn't get each other's memories, so it may feel like this thing won't be permanent.
When I was lost in thought about how to deal with everything in the future, Uncle Elliot came in.
"Leah, how are you feeling?" Uncle Elliot's voice brought me back to reality.
"I am all good, but I am feeling very odd about this soul and body swapping thing." I am trying to figure out how this happened." I expressed my concerns in a worried voice. I feel like if I really cannnot return to my body, then I have to live with a mismatched identity, and I even cannot divorce Leo. Neither can he...
"Don't worry too much. I will say what I know. I am waiting for Leo to come here. Then we can all have a talk about this matter. " Uncle Elliot said while he took a seat in front of me. He ran some checkups on me, and he seemed satisfied with the results. After he was done, Leo returned to the company.
"Do you know how many days it took for you to gain consciousness?" Uncle Elliot asked me while eyeing me with his pair of glasses. He looked all serious about this.
How can I know? I had not woken up for long. However, I am feeling particularly good for some reason. If I am not mistaken, Leo had a fatal injury in his chest. He should not recover this quickly." I said I was looking at both of them.
"You wake up after fifteen days. You were in a coma for this long. Leo's body was heavily injured, while your body was poisoned because of alcohol." Uncle Elliot said, and he took a break and adjusted his posture.
"Your poisoning because of alcohol was not that bad, so that was not a big deal. Your body was sent to the hospital by one of your friends named Ket Nayar." Uncle Elliot continued.
"However, as Leo was heavily injured, he was not that lucky; he was sent to the hospital by his fellow comrade. You both were sent to the same operation theatre for treatment. But suddenly both of your heartbeats went blank, and they returned after some moments." Before Uncle Elliot could finish his sentence, he stopped all of a sudden.
Suddenly, my hand unconsciously reached to my chest, and there was a bandage. Blood started to seep out of the bandage.
Uncle Elliot looked around and found something that astonished him.
"Something is wrong; I feel sleepy. I don't know why." I started to lose consciousness even before I could complete my sentence.
He gave me some medicine that stabilises my condition. I started to feel better.
"Who came before me?" Uncle Elliot asked, and he called the bodyguards stationed outside.
I wanted to tell Uncle Elliot about the nurse, but I felt so bad that I could not talk. Leo came near me and slowly ran his fingers through my hair. I feel particularly sleepy. I still have to know a lot of things, but I saw Uncle Elliot making an injection, and he used that on me. My eyes became heavy, and my world became dark.
