Chapter 97: Chapter 97: Life goes on

Elisabeth lay in her bed starting in and out of wakefulness, hot, restless, unwelcome dreams, wretched thoughts provoking the need for escape into sleep. A vicious circle of the sounds of unhappy metal, her screams, Russell hating her, reverberations of Guilty, Thierry's face apoplectic, Robert's remote. At one point, as the fallen tree came through the windscreen for the umpteenth time she felt the sudden weight of it slap into her forehead and bucked away in a vain attempt at avoidance. 'Boop, wake up, you're dreaming.' She opened her eyes and had no idea where she was, the dream still with her.

'Come on.' Sharp words accompanied by staccato pats on the cheek. Honey kept it up until Elisabeth was with her entirely. 'You were dreaming. What about?'

Elisabeth ran a hand over her forehead and let it flop by her side, mouth dry. She was wrung out from the turbulence. 'Everything.'

'Not good enough.' Honey wanted her to talk about it. 'Everything what?'
