As desserts replaced appetizers and music started coming through hidden speakers strategically placed around the room, the warm lights lowered and it signified that it was time for the guests to enjoy a dance.

"Oh, thank God," Varya muttered under her breath.

She didn't know how much longer she would be able to take Basileus's teasing.

A common courtesy at events like that was allowing the hosts to dance first and others would slowly filter in.

Taking the lead, Ebari stood up first and offered his hand to Varya who gratefully took his offering. She allowed herself to be led to the center of the long, empty dance floor.

He gave her a charming smile and she played the part of bashful very well. Though, blushing and having to bite her lip in order not to laugh was a natural reaction because she felt ridiculous having all sorts of eyes watching her dance with her supposed husband.
