Chapter 25: Heartbeats and Heartaches

…that night, I decided to be conscious of my relationships. There was no need to put anyone in harm's way again. It was painful to do but I decided to let Brittany be. Our friendship was good while it lasted. 

You can call me a weak man or a stupid boy for going back on my words but when she called me later that night I answered the phone because I was curious. 

"Hey, Lucas. I heard your GrandPa died. Sorry for your loss. I… I miss you. I just wanted to check up on you, " she said in that soft voice. 

How could I not go back on my words?

If I didn't know better I would have said that I had split personality or bipolar syndrome, whatever you guys call it. One time, I was sure that I would never talk to Lucas and the next, I was waiting for a call from him to say he wanted us to continue what we started when he dropped me off.
