Chapter 48: Embracing the Truth

…all the names of the soldiers were listed and 'deceased' was written in front. Only Lucas did not have 'deceased' written beside his name. It dawned on me how much Lucas has lost. At a point in his life, he has lost everyone he cared about. 

I quickly replaced the photograph so he wouldn't find me sneaking into his privacy. Aside from the Duchamp's painting, there were other artworks from popular artists. I didn't keep up with the world of art after we relocated to Canada. Imagine my surprise when my roommate turned out to be an artist. 

With careful steps, I went downstairs expecting to see Lucas or dinner but they were both absent. I was about to yell out his name when he appeared from a door that I hadn't noticed before, looking forlorn. 

"What is it?"
