Chapter 17: Missing Again

After feasting on the remnants of the two children who passed away, the audience left to their various destinations. On the rulers orders, the man and wife had left into the backroom, where Aella and Rasmus were. The monitors were turned off. They could no longer see the happenings on stage.

The rulers walked on stage with their bodies overflowing with pleasure. Roderick bent over a pool of blood and placed his finger on it. "Look at  this," he said with a shaky voice. From a finger, to his entire  hand placed into the crimson fluid. A grin appeared on his face and he began to laugh maniacally. He smeared the blood over his face, taking in deep breaths while still laughing. His eyes rolled back and were all white. A light glow appear in his eyes as he enjoyed the misery, pain and agony trails of emotions the children left behind.

"What I've longed for, what I wished for," he muttered with ecstasy.

"If you're done acting like an addicted lunatic, can we carry on?" Constantine said sick of Roderick's behaviour. Roderick's pupils returned and the glow died down. He looked up at Constantine and  tilted his head with a wide smile.

The rulers then took their form in a circle and bent over the pool of blood. Placing their fingers on it, they all, at the same time. They began moving their fingers drawing a symbol with the blood on the stage.

"Lord Darkness, accept this offering," they repeated while making the symbol until they were done. In front of them were now five drawings of a bull's head. The five heads then glowed brightly, and just like in their secret tower, the entire room shook and a dark fog appeared. This time reaching out to the bloodstains on the stage. The rulers had their heads lowered still bending over their symbols.

The dark fog then sparked red and immediately withdrew into the drawings with great speed. The force in the room went away with the fog. The rulers then put their heads down to the ground and said,

"Thank you, great god." And as they did, they began to feel a surge of energy through their bodies. They then raised their heads with looks of satisfaction plastered on their faces.

"What's taking so long?!" Alfred wondered. It was safe to say he was very worried for his friend and hoped he was okay. It had been a week and his friend still hadn't returned. Aella who would frequently visit hasn't shown up as well. He even went as far as asking the people who would come to give them food and they would say nothing. Asides from Aella, Rasmus and the masked men, no one else talked to the children. They only ever did as instructed and went away once they were done.

They never did interact with the children. Sometimes, he would go to the steel doors and try to peep through the key hole, hoping to get a glimpse of his friend. It was hard him to see anything not to talk of setting eyes on Malakai.

"Please be okay," he said internally and fell to his bed feeling downcast.

"It's been four weeks since the last case of missing children. It seems the perpetrators have struck again as another case of missing children has come up in one of the villages governed by King Henley, a city under Queen Verill and a village governed by King Sadiki."

"It is truly a sad tale and is a cause for alarm as these cases keep occuring. The people have had it up to their necks and are questioning security. Over five years recurrently and still, the masterminds behind this haven't been caught."

"We hear the people's cry and are currently doing our best to apprehend the people behind these kidnappings and bring them to justice."

"This has become a worldwide problem and cannot allow for this to keep happening. We, the rulers solemnly swear to not rest until these children are found. We will actively work in union until this issue has been resolved."

Different news networks were spreading the news all over the globe. The head security of each part of the five great nations of the world had spoken up on the matter, the rulers themselves as well.

Currently in every village and city more security had been placed. Meetings were being held, investigations were being carried out. They needed even if it was the tiniest of leads, just something to give them hope. All these years, even when they had a lead, everything just ends up feeling like they are going on a wild goose chase. Any signal gotten or tracking placed always disappears instantly. No links had been found at all. It frustrated those in charge of the safety of the citizens.

In a large room, filled with the chiefs commanders of investigations, chiefs of security and the rulers, a meeting was being held.

"I want to understand how all of you here will be working intently on a case for years and yet there's no progress, there's no lead whatsoever," one of the leaders, Brielle said.

"We sincerely apologize and are doing our best to find the perpetrators behind this," one of the chiefs of security, dressed in an all white attire with blue stripes and a golden badge on his right chest, said.

"Apologies mean nothing when you cannot solve the problem. It doesn't change a thing. Will you give apologies to the aching families? Rather than being sorry, find the children." Roderick said quite calmly, twirling on his seat while playing with a pen in hand.

"You are the finest people when it comes to trapping criminals, how is it that you just can't solve this one? Why do I get the feeling that you lot are involved in these missing cases?" Renjiro said.

"No my King, we would never!" Another chief said.  The way the rulers looked down on them from the five high seats they sat on, while the rest of them sat behind desks arranged in rows, sent chills down their spine.

"If you are not at fault then why haven't these kidnappings being stopped? How do they keep taking them under your noses? If you're not at fault, stop sitting around doing nothing and get back those children. Find them! The people are at our necks for this, and yours too," said Constantine. A bit of rage was heard in his voice as he spoke.

"We will and very soon, I might add," a female chief said. "In the last abduction, the criminals left a clue behind. Samples that we are currently working on to track them down."

"Really?" Elias stroke his beard in thought. " Well then, go ahead with your duties. In a week's time, I want to see results."

"You all are dismissed, this meeting has come to an end," Brielle said. Every man and woman, except the rulers, got up and made for the exit.

"So, the plan is being put into action," Constantine said with a smile.

"I only hope they will handle it well," said Brielle.

Out of the five, Roderick was smiling the most. It was suspicious to the others but they didn't bother knowing the reason.
