Chapter 32: Their Night
Soohyun made his way through the crowded dance floor as quickly as possible, but he met with a slight delay when a girl decided it was a good idea to push herself up on him. If it had been another circumstance, he would have made her night right there and then, no one would be the wiser. But, he gently and politely pushed her aside with a smile before resuming his goal, getting to the bathroom. As soon as he arrives at the restroom, he doesn't like what he's saying. The five men he saw earlier had become three men as they stand in front of the girl's bathroom. His mind raced along with his heart as he walks towards them, ready to retaliate at any moment. He can't bear the thought of the missing two from these men are inside with JiU, alone. He simply won't tolerate it.
"Woah, Woah, where do you think you're going?" One of the men guarding the door stopped him in his tracks.
"I need to get my girl," Soohyun tries a sensible and more friendly way.
"Just relax, man," the next man steps right beside the other, "She's umm… Well, busy, I'm sure she's fine. Real fine." The other two chuckled along after the latter stated such a statement that made Soohyun's blood boiled to his head.
"Step aside," Soohyun's tone turned into a warning, making the three men raised their eyebrows.
"Or what?" The first man who stopped him asked while poking his finger on Soohyun.
A loud thump on the door interrupted the four men's encounter as their eyes turned to the girl's bathroom. "This," Soohyun says, and without another word, he lands a hard uppercut to the man who poked his finger on his chest. The other two were too shocked to respond to Soohyun's attack that they only caught their falling friend. Soohyun took that chance to land a kick on the almost unconscious man, making him break free from his helping arms. Not wasting another moment, he landed a right hook to the man his left so hard that the latter kissed the wall. The last one scoffed and threw his series of blows, but Soohyun was too quick as he stepped aside and ducked each blow like it was nothing. Once seeing an opening as the man missed, Soohyun lands a blow to his right side. The man flinched, and Soohyun took that to chance by landing another blow to his abdomen. When the bends forward due to the impact, Soohyun heaves his knee upwards, catching the man right in the face, rendering him unconscious. As a result, three men are out cold on the floor, but Soohyun needed to move quickly.
Soohyun knocked on the door with his fists, "JiU-ssi! JiU-ssi!" He turns the door handle, but it's still locked. "JiU-ss! Are you alright?!" His heart raced up to his throat as no answer came from his knocking, and negative thoughts overwhelm to flood his mind. "JiU-ssi!" Soohyun banged the door one last time before finally stepping backward to kick the door. And just when he was about to do so, the door opened.
"Oh! Soohyun-ssi," JiU stepped out of the door, completely fine, which made things seemed quizzical. But soon he got his answer when he looked inside the bathroom; the two men are out cold on the floor. All that is left is JiU looking surprised at Soohyun and the unconscious men behind him.
2 Minutes Ago
"Hey there, sexy," Two men had managed to sneak behind her as the club's music must have muted their footsteps. "How bout we have our dance floor, right here?"
JiU was beyond surprised by how bold these two men were by locking themselves inside the bathroom. One of the men started to walk towards her, and out of reflex, she moved back as well. However, the wall halted her movements while the man keeps minimizing their distance between each other. "Please, let me go, I can pay you," JiU's heart paced faster and faster as the man advanced, and her expression started to transform into one full of fear.
"Hah… I'm sorry, baby doll," He stops and stands an arm's length away; he proceeds to put an arm on her shoulder, "I'm afraid you can't afford us."
"Well, I gave you a chance," her whole expression changed abruptly to one of annoyance, "Things would have been different for you and your friend there."
"What? What are you, Ahhhhhh!" His words are interrupted when JiU grabbed his hand on her shoulder and twisted it to the side with force. She then used that split second of a moment when he screamed in pain to go for his throat with a quick jab. He fell on his knees, holding his neck, trying to take the air he lost from her blow, but JiU had other plans. She grabbed the back of his head and shoved his downwards as she heaves her knee upwards to meet his face. The man falls to the side, out cold after the impact from her knees.
The other man was stunned to see the events in front of him that he didn't notice that JiU had advanced towards him as quickly as her heels can carry her. The small bathroom made it possible for her to decrease their distance. "You bi…" yet again, before any words could come out, JiU had landed another blow in the form of her fist hitting him square on the nose.
"Aish.." JiU shakes her hand after the man retreated towards the door in pain, his hand on his nose. Blood trickled profusely from his nose; JiU had broken his nose.
"You broke my nose!" the only reply he got was another blow, this time from JiU's elbow as she swung it straight to her man's face. Hard enough for the impact to send the man's head to land hard against the door. He slumped forward and falls forward on his face, unconscious.
Just as the man falls, JiU heard something coming from the door. She leaned her ear close to the door, and she hears a few grunts through the club's loud music, then a sound of something hitting the wall, followed a few moments later of something falling on the floor. For a few seconds, nothing else had happened until a loud knock landed on the door, causing her to move away from the door.
'Oh no, this is so not my night,' JiU complained, thinking that these two men might not have come alone. But worries are immediately put to rest when she heard someone calling her name behind that rigorous knocking. However, JiU decided to wait a little longer to confirm her ears.
"JiU-ssi! Are you alright?!" The person calling her name started to sound familiar, "JiU-ssi!" Another call of her name made her sure who it was behind that door. JiU opens the door to find Soohyun standing over three unconscious men.
Now
"JiU-ssi," the only word she could muster as he looks at the unconscious men on the floor. He approached JiU, "Are you alright?" expressing his concern as he looks at her.
"Y...yes, I am," JiU smiled as his expressions touched a soft spot, and she relayed the same question after witnessing three men on the floor, "And you? Are you alright?"
"Yes, I am," Soohyun returned her smile in kind as they stared at each other's eyes, only to be interrupted a groan coming from one of the downed men on the floor. "So, how bout a drink? My treat?" Soohyun suggested quickly, wanting to get out of there.
"Sure," this time, JiU answered without hesitation, much to Soohyun's delight. However, before leaving the restroom area, Soohyun took a few pictures of the men that had tried to assault JiU. Then he forwarded the images to someone he knows at the police station and requesting that they apprehend the men immediately.
"Let's go," Soohyun offered his hand for her to step over the body on the floor.
JiU took his hand but winced immediately as she almost jerked from Soohyun's hold. "What's wrong?" Soohyun averts his attention to her hand that he held to find that her knuckles had turned red and quite bruised. "We need to get this taken care of," he moves his hold to her wrist and navigates through the crowd to go to the bar.
Soohyun asked from a bag of ice from the bartender while gently holding her bruised hand. "You are a badass," Soohyun chuckled softly upon remembering the two unconscious men left in the bathroom in her wake.
"Well, I am a lady," JiU smiled and shrugged, "But that doesn't mean I have to be fragile."
"True, very true," Soohyun nodded in affirmation to her statement, and once more, she had brought quite the attraction to charm his heart. Soon after, Soohyun helped to apply the ice on her hand.
Soohyun kept the ice on her hand and waved for a bouncer to come closer when he sees one. "Grab a couple of your guys and wait by the bathroom until the police arrive," the club's loud and blaring music might have dwarfed his tone, so he leaned and relayed his words to the Bouncer, "Some assholes just tried to pull a stunt with my girl, so I want them arrested that's why I called the cops. Keep them there."
"Yes, sir, Kim Soohyun-ssi," and right after, the bouncer beckoned for two until three of his buddies to go towards the bathroom area.
"Thank you," JiU relayed her thanks after Soohyun went back to looking at her, "But, how did you know they were following me?"
"Well, I was just looking around the club when I noticed you are walking to the bathroom with those assholes hot on your heels," his hand still holds hers gently while keeping the ice on her bruised knuckles.
"Is that the real reason, or were you just looking at me too long?" JiU raised an eyebrow as she attempts to tease the man.
"Umm… Maybe?" His words caused them to pause as they looked at each other before they burst into a short laugh. Their night turned out even better than before, even if it had to be through a little show of mishap.
