Chapter 408: Personal Business

As Sylvie continued to talk, Drake got the sense that the people she loved had never loved her back. Her only true joy came from baking and they were trying to take that away from her too by stealing her mother's prized recipe book and selling it to some big snack company. 

Neither of them had ever deserved her. If he had someone who treated him so sincerely, he would never take them for granted. 

He supposed it was because they were used to being loved so it didn't matter to them the way it did to someone who had never experienced such a thing. Sylvie loved them very much. She did so much for them…things that he would kill to have done for him.
