Chapter 17: A Bottle Of Milk

Did all children scam for food and drinks like this these days?

Li Weiyin was dumbfounded. The child wasn't dressed badly, yet he looked like he had been starved for several days.

However, the thing that made Li Weiyin the most speechless was when the man that looked different from the previous night actually nodded his head and handed a 100 yuan note to the child, "You can go buy it."

The child's eyes glowed as they fell on the banknote. Li Weiyin couldn't bear to watch, but this was someone else's matter. If the man was willing to give away his money and act charitable, she had no right to intervene.

She watched as the child took the 100 yuan note and quickly ran away. But, just as she was about to withdraw her gaze, a car suddenly stopped beside the child and the child ran back.

Two tall, skinny men stepped out of the car and started chasing after the child. "Help--" he cried.

Seeing that one of the men was about to catch up and grab hold of the child, Li Weiyin threw the bottle of milk she was holding accurately towards the devilish hands that were reaching for the child. At the same time, she rushed out like an arrow.

In one swift move, she grabbed the man's wrist, twisted it hard, and lifted her leg onto his shoulder while he was still in pain. She then grabbed the little boy and saved him.

From the corner of her eyes, she noticed a shadow cast by the sun. Li Weiyin let go of the boy, turned around quickly, and held onto the fist that was directed towards her. With a twist, the man in her restraints turned around and wailed in pain.

Li Weiyin kicked him fiercely on the back, sending him flying forward. He ended up lying on the floor unable to get back up.

The other man rushed forward, holding the broken glass milk bottle that Li Weiyin had thrown and pointed the sharp end towards her. Li Weiyin leaned back to avoid the attack and grabbed onto the man's shoulder at the same time.

With her other hand, she restrained the man's arm, pulled him forward, and threw him over her shoulder.

The two men lay on the ground, groaning in pain. At this time, people began to gather after hearing the child's cries for help.

Li Weiyin glanced at the two people who could no longer cause trouble, picked up the toast and lunch box she dropped, looked at the person who had not done anything but stare at her in shock, and strode away with a smile.

This man was really strange. He appeared to be better skilled than her the previous night, but today, he watched a woman go up against two men and he did not attempt to help her at all.

He seemed indifferent, yet he was kind enough to give a child bread and play along with his act.

Perhaps, he could tell that she could handle it?

Li Weiyin shook her head and felt her body starting to get cold. She quickly unwrapped her food and ate it with big bites.

She didn't know if it was some kind of mental illness, but ever since she was 8-years-old, she had experienced symptoms of low blood sugar. Whenever she became hungry, she would break out in a cold sweat and feel anxious.

But, when she went to the hospital for an examination, she was not hypoglycemic and the doctor could not determine what was wrong with her.

Fang Meixian even accused her of trying to make them feel guilty by pretending to be ill, so they'd forget how she had pushed Li Weixin into the fountain.

After swallowing three slices of toast, Li Weiyin almost choked, but her anxiety eased.

She was exhausted and particularly wished for someone to show her some concern at that moment

She pulled out her phone and called Lou Yucheng. But, his phone was off. When she thought about the misunderstanding he had, she suddenly lowered her head.

At that moment, a bottle of milk appeared in front of her.
