Chapter 28: Fighting The Monsters

Inside Alex's soul, Arthur was sitting on a chair in the center of the dark void while muttering some things to himself.

"How was he able to accomplish all these in just a short while?" He asked himself. "First off, he was able to control and send me back, secondly, he was able to absorb some of my power even without my knowledge. I should be happy about this but I am not, this can be a problem in the future." A frown soon settled on his face at the thought of this.

Meanwhile, on the outside, Alex wore a worried expression as he gazed at Raphael who was bleeding from the hole on his chest side.

"Hey, can you hear me?" He asked him.

"I can. I'm fine, don't worry about me," Raphael replied.

"But your bleeding so bad," Alex muttered.

"Have you forgotten that I'm no longer a human? I can also heal on my own," Raphael replied with a short smile. "The monsters are all over the place, if you don't stop them now, they'll attack the remaining students who are still alive. You must stop them, Alex," he added while grabbing Alex's hand.

"I don't care about them or what happens to them. You are my only concern," Alex said to him.

"Then let me ask you this question. What am I to you? Am I just a servant to you? Or am I still your friend?" Raphael asked him.

"What kind of stupid question is that?" Alex asked back with a frown. "If you were a servant, I wouldn't be holding you in my arms right now," he added.

A little smile formed on Raphael's lips after hearing Alex's reply. Though he sounded harsh with his words, Raphael could not help but feel happy both inwardly and outwardly because he wasn't just a mere servant as he speculated.

"Thank you," he mumbled to Alex who was gazing at him with a frown yet worried look on his face. "But you have to defeat those monsters or they'll continue to cause havoc in the school," he added.

"I am going to destroy them for what they did to you!" Alex replied to Raphael and then rested his back against the wall before standing up and walking in the direction of the monsters.

There were six monsters in total, one was killed by Arthur, and the second one was killed by Alex, leaving a total of four monsters still wandering around. They were all larger than the other two that was already dead and the aura around them was five times more malicious than that of the dead ones.

' These monsters are very strong, I don't have a weapon to fight them with. What should do?' He thought to himself while staring at the monsters who had their ears perked up, ready to pick up any form of sound.

Alex had never been into any real battle with monsters and as such, he lacked the knowledge and the skills. He didn't want to make any careless move because whatever action he decided to take will determine the outcome of the overall fight, the reason he killed the first one was because of how mad he was because the monster had hurt Raphael, and that alone took a reasonable amount of his energy. While he was still in thought, he kept looking around for any useful weapon and suddenly, his eyes fell on the sword lying next to a student.

Seeing the sword, he had a difficult time deciding if he was going to use it or not but after thinking for a while, he decided to go for it. 'I don't need to practice using it, I'll use a few moves and soon, I'll be done with the monsters ' He thought to himself while picking up the sword. "Now, what was that again?" He mumbled and closed his eyes. After some seconds of closing his eyes, a dark smoky flame formed around his arm and spread until it engulfed the sword he was holding. "Now, where was I?" He mumbled again and began to head over to where one of the monsters was standing. As he approached the monster, a glint appeared at the corner of his eyes while having some wild thoughts in his head. 'Since they can pick even the tiniest sound, I'll make sure to grant them a soundless death '

As he made his way toward the monster, he clasped the sword firmly in his hand while making soundless steps to avoid the monster becoming aware of his presence. When he got to it, he clenched the sword again and tried to push the sword into the monster's body but unfortunately, the sword bounced off and fell to the ground.

"Wha—" He gasped but immediately jumped back as he dodged the monster's swift attack on him. Now, the monster is aware of his presence and has begun to attack him relentlessly. Surprisingly, no matter where Alex went, the monster was able to figure out and chase after him.

The monster's ability is the ability to stretch any part of its body with ease, as such, it would stretch out its arms to whatever distance it wanted to as long as its attacks are able to harm Alex. On Alex's part, he couldn't stop running as the monster kept chasing after him with its outstretched arms.

"Damn it! I have to do something," he muttered and found a corner to hide. Resting up to catch his breath, he glanced at the monster that was already beginning to search for him, he wanted to do something real quick or it'd become too late for him to do anything. This was all because of his impulsiveness "If I hadn't absorbed his energy all in the name of trying to break free, I wouldn't have gotten this weak!" He grunted and wiped the sweat that covered his forehead. He glanced at the sword, the dark smoky flame was vanishing slowly which indicated that he was truly losing his energy. "Darn it!" He grunted in desperation.

"Let me help you, master," someone whispered to him.

He turned and saw Klein behind him, his eyes were red and his fangs were out, ready to bite. He didn't seem to be in good shape but even at that, he could not wipe off the sinister grin on his face.
