Chapter 16: Money and power
Lenin is doing push-ups.
"Money is a weird paper. I remember when I was a little kid,"
"I was holding my mother's hand,"
New Year's festival
"Mother, I want that monkey."
"Lenin dear, monkeys are very tough to catch."
"How about that fox then?"
"Fox could bite you, dear."
"I want chocolate."
"Chocolate is bad for your teeth, dear."
"I wanna see the fireworks."
"Okay. Hold on tight."
"Wow."
His mother is a beautiful lady who only has one arm. The arm that Lenin always holds tight.
Both of them went home after that. In the home,
"Mother, why are you crying?"
"Lenin dear, I'm sorry, I couldn't buy you anything today. I'm sorry."
"I will never forget that day."
"Lenin, breakfast is on the table."
"Coming, mother."
Lenin gets ready and heads out toward school.
In the classroom, Sharia says, "Hey pest, do you know who the richest student is after you?"
"No idea, loser," Lenin responds.
Sharia boasts, "It's me, hahaha."
"Whatever," Lenin dismisses.
The apples in their hands glow, and then, after hiding from everyone, Lenin bites the apple. So does Sharia.
The next moment, both of them are in Woodenpool.
In class 2002,
"Today, your task is to elect a class representative. You have two hours."
Sir George Munsey leaves the classroom. All the students look at each other.
"Alright, everybody, raise your hands if you are interested," Sharia says, raising his own hand.
John raises his hand after that.
"Aren't you gonna raise your hand? Lenin," Gary asks.
Lenin replies, "I could ask you the same question."
"Class representative has the power to seize half of any student's points, you know," Gary warns.
"Still, not interested. But I have a question," Lenin raises his hand, drawing everyone's attention.
"Can we vote for someone else other than these two? I mean someone who is not interested."
"But Lenin, no one else wants to be our class rep. Whom do you want to vote?" Liya questions.
Lenin declares, "My vote goes to Orni Johnson."
"What!! I don't wanna be class rep," Orni protests.
All the students are looking at her.
"Lenin is right."
"She is very kind."
"She won't misuse the power of that position."
Other students express their support, and Orni is very embarrassed at the moment.
"We are not falling for your trap again, Lenin," John said.
Gary adds, "She could be easily manipulated by you, that is."
"Be real, Gary. I know her just as much as you guys do," Lenin defends.
The voting starts, and it is now result-time.
"Sharia, 6 votes.
John, 7 votes.
Orni, 9 votes.
That makes Orni our class representative," Liya announces.
"I'll try to help everyone," Orni bows.
"There will be a trip to Odresha after this basic training. Anyone with negative points or no points will not be allowed. The more powerful and rich a student is, the more they are allowed to visit Odresha."
"So Orni Johnson is the class representative. Okay then. Class dismissed," Sir George Munsey declares.
They are now in the actual school.
Liya says, "Guess we missed the history class."
"Who cares?" Sharia replies, "Wait, where is that pest?"
"No idea," Liya responds.
After a while, "So we are gonna look for big brother Karl after we get there," Sharia states.
Liya adds, "That is the plan. But we need to be powerful, powerful enough to protect ourselves."
"Exactly," Lenin suddenly appears, "we have to work very hard in these training programs."
"What the hell, pest. Where did you come from all of a sudden? And where have you been?" Sharia questions.
Lenin responds, "That's not important right now, loser."
