Chapter 101: The Guild

Once we made it through into Luna's store, with Charlotte holding my hand, we soon met up with Luna herself as she seems to be serving a customer. Unlike the trip to the mall, I do still have my mask off, however I do have it resting on top of my head just in case something happens.

"Oh? You three going out?" Luna asks while grabbing some phials of blood from one of the shelves.

"Nn. We're going to register Shiro at the guild."

"What?!" Charlotte's words seem to have surprised Luna though, causing the customer to tense up. "Ah, sorry, here you go." Noticing the customer, Luna hands over the phial of blood before leaving the store.

I'm still not really sure what's going on with this "guild" thing, or what registering means, but I do have an idea that it has something to do with the jobs Lisa has gotten us.

"Give me a sec. I'll come with you guys." Luna says as she grabs a few things from the drawer.

"Are you sure?" Lisa questions.

"It's only around the corner. Plus there's not much customers today. I was thinking about taking some jobs as well." She says while turning over a sign at the front door.

"Okay. We'll be glad to have you, auntie."

"Hehe~"

And so, with Luna now joining us, we set on out of the store, with Charlotte and Lisa taking the outside while Luna and I walk in between them.

"It's been a while since you've been to the guild, huh." Luna says as she speaks around me towards Charlotte.

"Yeah. I'm glad I found my guild card, haha."

"A rank, right? Yeah, it's certainly not cheap to replace, hehe."

Charlotte and Lisa talks about these "ranks" briefly before we came to Luna's, so to hear it again, I can't help but be curious.

"What ranks?"

"Ah, well ranks determine how qualified you are for jobs." Luna tries to explain it, but I'm not really getting it. "Here-"

It was then that Luna took out a card that looked similar to the one Charlotte had, however I do notice that it's a bit different, specifically the top left corner of it. Unlike Charlotte's which had a shiny green color in the top left, Luna's one is a shiny red, almost like it's glowing in the sunlight. There is also the symbol "S" Marked above it, unlike Charlotte which had an "A" symbol.

"This here is my rank. These guild cards house our mana inside it so it can only be used by the owner of it." Luna continues to explain as she shows me the card a bit closer as we walk. "This here is my rank, S. It means I can take on any job available to me, with a few exceptions."

"So then why does yours look different to Charlotte's?" I end up asking as Charlotte takes out her card once more.

"It's 'cause auntie has done more jobs than me, so she gets to handle more difficult jobs."

"Mhmm! You see, with Charlotte's card, she cannot do S ranked jobs. She can only do A ranked jobs and below."

I'm still kind of lost...

"Fufu, it's okay. You'll get an idea when we arrive." Lisa says as we continue our walk.

And in in the next five minutes, we arrive at a building as the four of us walk inside. However, the moment we do, all the chatter inside ceased as all of the gazes focused in on our group. I end up gripping hold of Charlotte's hand as I feel heat beginning to build up inside me. in the next moment, Charlotte brought me closer to her as our shoulders now press up with one another. Her warmth helping me calm down this heat building up inside me.

"You okay?"

"Nn..."

"Want me to put on the mask?"

"I- I'm good, I think."

We continue to walk through the inside of the building as the nearby people begin whispering with one another whilst gazing at us. I was wondering what this was all about, but neither Charlotte, Lisa, or Luna looked to be bothered by it. And in no time at all, we reach the desk.

"Ah~ Luna. Welcome back." The lady behind the desk greets us with a bright smile. "Oh, and I see you've also returned."

"Yeah. I came here to register this one." Charlotte says to the lady as she gestures to me.

The lady looks my way as her eyes seem as if she's scanning me, looking at me from head to toe.

"Certainly. What will your name be?"

"Shiro." I answer the lady while still gripping onto Charlotte's hand.

"Alright. Give me one moment. Oh, you do have the registration fee, right?"

"Yes. I'll be paying for it." Charlotte says while brining out a small bag of coins from her bag.

"Perfect. I'll just get this set up for you." Then the lady went further back into another room, leaving the four of us at the desk.

In roughly three minutes, the lady returns with a card in hand along with what looked to be a small, yet sharp needle.

"Okay, I'll just need a small sample of your mana and the registration will be complete. Will blood be okay?"

In that moment, everyone turned to face me. Is she asking for my blood?

"S-sure?" She said a small amount, and if it's just that needle then I think I'll be fine. I've had to deal with a lot worse in the past after all...

The lady then took my hand in hers as she gently stabbed the tip of my finger with the needle. I barely felt a thing, not even cuasing me to flinch in the slightest, however-

"Oh! You heal quite fast!" The lady looks at me in surprise as not a single drop of blood came out of my finger. I guess with a small wound like that it wouldn't even take a second for me to heal it.

"Wait-" But before the lady went to try again, Charlotte speaks up. "I can do it." Charlotte raises her hand up as one of her nails grows out into a sharp point.

"Okay. Just make sure at least a drop gets absorbed in this crest."

"Got it."

It was then that Charlotte took my hand in hers as she lets me hold onto the card in my other hand.

"Sorry, Shiro. I'll be as gentle as I can."

"Nn..."

She then slices the palm of my hand until a bit of my blood begins to pool up. I could feel the pain this time, but I was more focused on Charlotte's hand than anything. So warm...

"Okay, just drop that blood onto here."

I follow Charlotte's instructions as I drip the little blood that's in my palm onto the engravings that Charlotte pointed to. In an instant, my blood disappears as the engravings begin glowing.

"Perfect! The registration is complete." The lady says with a smile as Charlotte helps to clean the little blood that's left over in my hand. Of course with my wound already being healed.
