Chapter 98: Spilling The Beans
It came as a surprise to have Charlotte buy me so many things. She even paid for the clothes Lisa picked out as well. I ended up wearing the tights that Charlotte got me under my skirt. It's a strange feeling... It's so constrictive, much more than the jeans I tried on, but surprisingly I feel like I can move just fine, feeling like it's more like a second skin. Plus... It feel warm inside.
Walking out of the store, we're back inside the big halls of the mall. Lisa has stopped hugging onto my arm now that she's wearing warmer clothes, but I couldn't help but wonder if Charlotte is alright.
"Are you not cold, Charlotte?"
"Hmm? Yeah, I'm fine. The cold doesn't really bother me."
"Tch. That's vampires for you, haha." Lisa chimes in.
"So vampires don't feel the cold?"
"Nah, we do, but- I'm not too sure how to explain it. I guess it feels nice?" Charlotte herself seems to not fully understand it either, but I guess that's all there is to explain.
"But seriously, Charlotte. Are you sure about paying for all my clothes as well?"
"Of course. I got you into quite a bind recently, so this is my way to say thank you."
"Damn... If I knew maybe I should've picked out some more clothes, fufu."
And so, we continue through the wall. but while I do so, I stare down at my new shoes. I'm still not sure which shoes I like more. These ones do feel a bit more stiff, but Charlotte said that's normal for new shoes, saying that I need to 'break them in.'
"Hey hey, so where to next?" Lisa speaks up as we head deeper into the mall.
"For starters, lets go upstairs."
"Hmm?"
Upstairs... When Charlotte said that, my gaze focused in on what looked to be stairs, only instead of being still, they look to be moving, with the people on it moving up without even moving their legs.
"Ah~ I see. Hehe, okay." Lisa seems to be interested, and soon enough, we approach the moving stairs.
Once we got to the base of the moving stairs, Charlotte took me by my hand.
"Just step on like you would with normal stairs."
"Nn... Ah-!"
I do like Charlotte said, following her lead, however the moment I stepped onto it, I felt my foot being dragged forward much quicker than I thought. If it wasn't for Charlotte to hold me up, I think I would've fell backwards.
"Fufu. There we go."
"Th-thank you."
Before I knew it, I was already at the second floor as we were quickly reaching the top of the moving stairs. I was a bit worried about how to get off, but upon seeing people walk off so naturally, my worries soon dissipated. And in the next moment, I found myself doing the same thing, walking off the stairs with little to not problems.
"Say, Charlotte~" Now up stairs, Lisa calls out to Charlotte.
"Hmm?"
"Since you're paying, lets get some food!"
"Haah~ Alright."
"Yes!"
We soon make our way to the nearby food area where countless people were all seated, eating many different kinds of food. I end up checking my mask, seeing if it's still on my face just in case, making sure it's secure.
It didn't take long for us to take our seats with Lisa eating a burger in front of us. As for Charlotte and I, we got some blood infused hot chocolate.
"Mm! This is good!" After taking a sip, I felt my body immediately begin to warm up. But it was hard to tell if it was because of the blood or if it was just hot.
"It's alright I guess." Charlotte says while sipping at her drink as well with a slight smirk on her face. "I prefer the tea you make over this, hehe."
"Then I'll make some when we're back home."
"Mhmm! Thank you."
"You two get closer by the day, huh." Lisa cuts back into the conversation, looking to have nearly finished her burger already.
"Well, I guess Shiro and I are closer now that you mention it, hehe."
"Hmm?" Lisa focuses in on Charlotte as if her words intrigued her. "What, you two finally a thing? haha."
"Yes."
"...Eh? What?!" Lisa little outburst attracted the gazes of others around us, with almost all of them going silent.
"Lisa... Not so loud-"
"You're joking, right? Shiro?"
"Uhm..." What am I meant to say here? It about Charlotte and I, so could it be about the talk yesterday? "Charlotte and I are like that princess and the criminal."
"Eh? Charlotte, what is she on about?"
"Pfft. We watched a movie. But don't freak out so much. We've just put a name to our relationship is all. Nothing's really changed." Charlotte says while taking another drink from her cup.
"Hmmm? Shiro, you happy about that?"
"As long as I can stay with Charlotte, I'm happy."
"She's so pure~" Lisa says with a giant grin on her face as she takes in another bite.
"Mhmm. So it's just that. You didn't need to get all that excited."
"Wait. So then today... Am I intruding on your guys' date?"
"Yes."
"I'm sorry!~"
We end up finishing our drinks and food shortly after.
