Chapter 18: Gateway

Once morning arrived, Charlotte and I both woke up as she once again helped me dress into my uniform, this time however strapping a C cup bra around my chest. It still feels weird to wear one, but I do find it a lot more comfortable than my previous one. Charlotte then brushed my hair, getting rid of any knots that may be there before we headed back downstairs where we met back with Lisa, the Major.

"Alright. You two ready?" I still have no idea what it is we're meant to do, but it seems like we're about to do something. The only question is what? It's been on my mind ever since yesterday.

"Yes. Shiro?"

"Mhmm." I reply back to Charlotte as we then follow Lisa into a new room. And upon entering, I noticed something strange on the floor, seeming to be glowing somewhat.

"I'll stay behind. Charlotte, be sure to do your part as well."

"Yes. I'll do my best."

I simply look between the both of them in confusion until Charlotte leads me inside the middle of the glowing circle on the ground, and once we arrived at the center, it only begins glowing brighter. Even with this mask covering my eyes, I still feel the need to look away from it.

"Good luck you two." And with Lisa's words, Charlotte holds my hand tighter before suddenly, my surroundings begin changing in but an instant and Lisa herself has suddenly disappeared. It was when I began to look around the room when I noticed that it seems to be a lot different. The only thing that stayed the same is the glowing circle underneath us, which seems to have dimmed down now.

"You do you feel, Shiro?"

"Uhm. Where did Lisa go?"

"Hehe. She didn't go anywhere." What does she mean by that? I just saw her disappear right before my eyes. "Remember when I told you about another world?"

"Yes?"

"Well we're now in that world. What we're standing on acts like a gate, allowing us to traverse between the two worlds." We're in a different world? I once again look around to check our surroundings.

"So then, why have we come here?"

"To train."

"Huh?" What does she mean by, train? Also I can't help but notice that her face doesn't look all that happy, filling my body with nerves in the process.

"Charlotte~!" But suddenly, bursting through the door came a woman with bright, pink hair which matched her slightly darker pink eyes. She wrapped her arms tightly around Charlotte, causing Charlotte to let go of my hand momentarily. "I thought I sensed you! Where have you been?!"

"I was busy dealing with stuff..." But despite the woman's flamboyant attitude, Charlotte seems a little dismissive. But that doesn't seem to affect the pink haired woman.

"Oh? Could it have something to do with your friend here?" It was then that the woman looked over at me as our eyes met, well at least through the mask.

"Yes. It's a long story, but I brought her here in hopes to teach her how to control her powers. I figured you might have an idea."

"Why the mask?"

"It's to prevent her powers from going out of control."

"Oh? But shouldn't she have grown out of it?"

"Well, that's the thing. It'd be too risky to have her handle it. Like I said, it's a long story." I simply watch as Charlotte talks with the woman. My eyes however can't help but notice that this woman's breasts are bigger than Charlotte's. Is mine really normal? I know Charlotte said so, but I'm beginning to think she's just being nice to me.

"I see~"

"Is mom around?"

"Ah, she's still busy on her little trip." Charlotte has a mom? Well, that's normal, right? People are born from their parents, but since all I knew was living in that white room, I honestly have no idea if I even have parents. Apparently my father is a vampire, but then where are they?

"Then could you help, auntie?" Auntie? What's that?

"Mmmm~ I can try. But I might need more of an explanation."

We soon close the door to the room as Charlotte proceeds to tell the woman about my condition. How I indiscriminately kill people just from looking at them. I was expecting the woman to be terrified upon hearing all of this, yet she remained composed, taking all of Charlotte's words in. She even shoots me a soft smile after hearing Charlotte's explanation.

"And that's about it."

"Hmmm. Well that does make it difficult to train. One slip up and we're basically dead, right?" Hearing the woman say this only makes me all the more nervous. When I first saw Charlotte for the first time after waking up from that bath, I thought she'd die right then and there. I'd hate to hurt her like that...

"Right. I have some idea, which is why I took Shiro here."

"Is that her name?"

"Yes." It was then that the woman turned to face me with yet another bright smile on her face.

"Nice to meet you, Shiro~"

"N-Nice to meet you..." My reply was a bit strained as I was still thinking back on how I could've killed Charlotte.

"I was thinking about maybe having her try and control her powers with monsters first. You still have some, right?"

"You want to use my monsters as test subjects?"

"Please..."

"Hahh~ I guess I could. I can always get more. It's a bit of a pain though..."

"Thank you very much!" Charlotte seems incredibly happy right now which is relieving to see, but I'm still questioning what it is I'm meant to do.
