Chapter 20: 20. Jessica

As much as she couldn't explain what happened, why she wasn't feeling anything from touching him made her shocked. The thought off him being just a human just like Eunice had said, crossed her mind, but she shoved it off. Was it desperation?

Jessica couldn't explain it, but she felt connected to him. As she touched his face, she could see the man's face in her nightmares of Nicholas. His deep dark eyes were one she swore was a perfect match for Nicholas, but how would she know?

"Thank you for accepting to be my friend." Nicholas smiled, and for some reason, it made her calm, like it was something she had been waiting for to see his smile.

"That's not an issue, I'm glad to be your friend, and I love that your favorite author is mine as well." She raised the book and swung it in the air smiling at him as though he could see, but it was useless.

"Can you tell me more about this book? I think I'm a fan of Mary Dawn." She giggled.
