She could hear many conversations around her. Some people talked about Damon's childhood, while another group discussed business.

But she was not in any mood to converse with anybody. She only wanted to hold her children and reassure them that everything would be alright, even if she did not know whether it was a lie.

"Mom, when can we see Dad?" Her sleepy son asked for the twenty or thirty times. She did not know. She had lost count.

"Soon, my darling. The doctors are still working on him, but as soon as he is good, we can go and see him." At least that was not a lie.

Jules hated lying to the kids. But she knew the truth would hurt them deeply. Besides, she still believed that Damon would survive this. He would never leave her and the kids.

"But it is taking forever," Oliver grumbled as frustration, desperation, and exhaustion fought for his attention. But his son's sentiment mirrored what she also felt.
