After the mafia-like hugging was done, the girls returned to their seats, waiting for Attie and Nota to finish preparing dinner. Tisdale, who had just arrived, went over to sit with Mia and Modred and realized that they had been playing Monopoly.
Like Chess — the favorite game of Da Xue's instructors — Monopoly was a game that Baiyi had introduced to them. Those who enjoyed dice games, loved Monopoly. The game was also popular amongst Da Xue's students. Sometimes, the academy's instructors were seen playing it; something Mia and Modred were doing now. Even though they were ten years older, both Mia and Modred were still children at heart, easily delighted by simple pleasures.
Zakum and Potter had been in the game, but since they could not scheme like humans, they lost early on. Only Mia and Modred remained, while the other two were their advisors.
It was so strange to see such a simple game bring them so much joy.
[1] As someone who had gone through some serious money-related problems for way too long past necessary to "build up characters", I can only say... THAT'S it? No new clothes for two years? Better than being constantly unable to afford to eat, man. I'll take it! (If you're a tad bit concerned though, well, don't worry, Kind Believers. Things got better.)
And also, in general, HOLY S*** I STILL CANNOT STAND MORDRED. Not cute, not sensible, not useful, no redeeming qualities, no redeeming personality in the first place... As expected from a creature family to the common house lizards, who stick their crap everywhere in your house whenever they want, make annoying gack gack noise whenever they want, and sometimes can't even do what they are SUPPOSED to be good at, i.e. actually sticks to the wall and ceiling and not fall onto someone's head or food and all that.
I rate you Cancer/10, Mordred. Sorry, (what little) fans of Mordred here.
