The returned Trolls, the Demon Lords that had begun slaughtering, the low-level angels that were just like war machines, the elves' cruel and bloody internal war, the human kingdoms' forever ongoing clashes for benefits. Apart from the frozen Northlands that still remained peaceful and quiet, the rest of the entire world was embroiled in bitter warfare.
