Kaya giggled excitedly when Keith pulled into the brightly lit parking lot of the amusement park. The Ferris wheel, a behemoth of twinkling lights, dominated the skyline. It was even more impressive than I expected it to be.
"Alright, munchkin," Keith declared, turning back to wink at Kaya. "Ready to conquer the skies?"
Kaya squealed with delight, wriggling out of my lap and into his arms. He scooped her up effortlessly, the picture of a happy dad.
"We'll get some snacks," Julia announced as we got out of the car, taking charge with a smile. "Kaya, do you want to go ahead and claim your spot in line for the wheel with Aunty Evie?"
"Yes." she squealed and her dad dropped her so she could toddle to stand in front of me.
Grateful for a chance to be with Kaya, I reached out and took her tiny hand in mine. "Ready for an adventure, little one?" I asked, gazing at her with a smile.
