Chapter 9: Chapter 9: No Chant!

Andrew strained with all his might, gathering the Earth element from the surrounding air, his mouth constantly murmuring the incantation. However, the flow of his spellcasting was far from smooth.

From his clumsy movements, Eric recognized a familiar awkwardness—this was probably the same level he had been at in the beginning.

However, after the practice he had last night, enhanced by a tenfold critical boost, Eric had become much more skilled!

"Earth Spike Spell!" Finally, Andrew managed to release a D-level Earth-based Elemental Magic.

Three sharp, jagged earth spikes shot up from the ground, viciously pointing towards the ceiling!

Orlando, standing behind, nodded slightly. "Though the casting speed was slow, the completion of the spell is still acceptable. Next..."

Andrew nodded quickly, hurriedly pulling out his second spell.

He reached into his storage pouch and retrieved a smooth stone. Sweat dripping from his palms, he tightly gripped the stone and began chanting again.

"Earth Shield Technique!" A glowing, translucent earth shield formed around the boy, flickering unstable as it pulsed with energy.

Large beads of sweat trickled down Andrew's face, and his complexion was slightly pale. It was clear that, at this stage, continuously releasing two spells was quite a challenge for him!

"Third, as required, this must be a C-level spell." Orlando continued, his voice flat and without emotion.

Andrew took a deep breath, continuing his chant. His face twisted with strain, clearly under immense pressure. "Summon Megalith Magic..."

The magic began to take shape in the air, as the Earth element around Andrew was drawn in, forming dust and stone fragments that slowly began to combine.

But halfway through, the boy's movements became erratic. His hands started to tremble, and his face turned even paler. He struggled, trying to maintain control, wanting the magic to fully form.

Yet, in the end, he couldn't manage it. The air around him crackled with energy as the stone about the size of a watermelon exploded into pieces, sending him crashing down to the floor with a thud!

The Summon Megalith Magic had failed!

Eric watched as the boy's face twisted with frustration. His hands trembled as he muttered to himself, "No! How could this happen... how could this happen... I was able to do it at home!"

Orlando extended his hand, and a gentle light fell over Andrew's head.

In an instant, the exhausted boy's color improved significantly.

Orlando spoke, "You were too nervous, but you do have potential. Go home and practice more, come back and try again in half a month."

On the side, Maurice, who had been silently observing, spoke up at this moment: "Test failed."

His tone was calm, but carried an undeniable authority—he was the final judge of the test.

Andrew could only leave in despair. The other young men and women who were preparing felt a shift in their expressions, their hearts filled with a sense of melancholy as they empathized with his plight.

Lilith, too, was no exception. Watching the departing boy, she muttered, "If I'm not mistaken, Andrew's been here many times before, and he failed again... Becoming a Magic user is really not easy."

She lightly bit her lip. When would she ever become a Low-level Magic user herself? Perhaps it would still be a long time...

"Next, Eric."

Orlando's voice rang out once again.

Lilith, still lost in her thoughts, had almost forgotten about Eric's existence. But when she heard his name, she snapped back to reality.

"Second is Eric?" She was taken aback for a moment, then a faint, mocking smile appeared on her face.

"A clown's act, it's bound to be exposed. Let's see what you do now!" She turned to see Eric calmly stand up, his face devoid of any expression.

"Hey, aren't you going to run away?" Lilith said coldly.

Eric turned his head, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "Run? Why would I run?"

Lilith frowned at his response. Although she had been surprised when he dared to show up here, she truly couldn't believe that Eric was shameless enough to go this far.

Once he stepped onto the stage, if he couldn't even cast a single spell, wouldn't he just be embarrassing himself?

"Are you serious? You came here just to be humiliated?" Lilith asked, puzzled.

Eric simply smiled and said nothing more. "Just watch."

With that, he walked towards the stage. Lilith's frown deepened. "Pretentious!"

She pulled out her phone, her fingers, painted with red nail polish, swiftly swiping across the screen. A group chat window popped up.

Lilith's lips curled into a slight smirk, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Hey, let me show you something fun." a cute bear avatar popped up—Lilith's profile.

Almost instantly, Kevin's profile appeared—his avatar was a flashy sports car.

"What's so fun?" Kevin replied.

In addition, many other students began to make their presence known, clearly intrigued by Lilith's actions.

Lilith smiled wider as she saw the reactions, thinking to herself, You'll all find out soon enough. She began recording, subtly aiming her camera at Eric on the stage.

At this moment, Eric had already stepped onto the arena.

Orlando glanced at him, a hint of interest on his face. "You're the careless one from earlier, huh? You're a new face. What's your element?"

The reason he emphasized "new face" was because it was rare for a Magic user candidate to pass on their first try. Most people had to come back at least once.

Given the arrogance Eric had shown earlier, Orlando couldn't help but feel a slight anticipation for how this young man would perform.

Meanwhile, Lilith was brimming with excitement. Here it comes, the show's about to begin!

She couldn't even imagine the kind of uproar this video would stir up in the group chat.

Just the fact that Eric had shown up at the Magic Guild to take the Magic user test was enough to be big news. He'd be mocked for an entire month over it!

Not to mention that he was actually standing on the stage, trying to cast Magic like a true Magic user. Lilith was certain the result would be hilarious.

"Water-based Element." Eric said calmly.

Without any hesitation, he extended one hand. He didn't even realize it himself, but after a night of training, he woke up today feeling unexpectedly sharp.

Eric focused intensely, drawing the water Element from the surroundings, mentally visualizing the Water Sphere Technique. He hadn't even started chanting yet.

"Whoosh~"

A Water Sphere Technique appeared in his palm, glowing with a vibrant blue light.

Orlando, who had been expressionless up until now, was stunned the moment he saw this.

What's going on? When did the Water Sphere Technique form? His Chanting speed is so fast I didn't notice it at all? he thought, confused.

Meanwhile, the other young men and women watching from behind also looked shocked.

"Such smooth movements!"

"Yeah, I didn't feel any sense of unfamiliarity at all."

"I bet he's practiced this Magic at least dozens of times, maybe over a hundred times..." Around him, whispers spread.

In reality, for an ordinary person to achieve this level of proficiency, they would need to practice over a hundred times to build up enough experience. And each of those attempts would need to be flawless to reach that point.

But Eric didn't need to do that. His system's progress meant that every time he performed a Magic, it was essentially a perfect execution, with a chance of a ten-times critical hit.

Moreover, for a beginner Magic user, it was typically hard to cast Magic more than three or five times a day. This made the cost of training even higher!

At the back, Lilith, who had been smiling, suddenly jolted, her expression immediately shifting.

"Water Sphere Technique? Is that really the Water Sphere Technique? And he cast it this fast, this smoothly?" Lilith stood frozen, momentarily doubting whether she had missed something.

Even Eric himself was shocked. No Chant? Didn't I just use Magic without Chanting?

Though he had practiced casting Magic perfectly the day before, to be able to perform a Chantless spell right from the start today surprised even him.

It was said that only Magic Masters, or rare geniuses born once in a hundred years, could cast Magic without chanting!

However, such geniuses were capable of casting any Magic without Chanting, whereas Eric had only achieved it with the Water Sphere Technique.

[Ding! You've cast Magic without Chanting, triggering a ten-times critical hit. Progress +20.]

[Skill: Magic User (Beginner)]

[Progress: (90/100)]

The system prompt rang in his mind again, and his Magic user progress had reached 90! He was just one step away from breaking through to the next level!
