A strangled cry escaped Ornella's lips, shattering the serene bustle of the maids who continued their dusting, unfazed by her outburst. 

Since the parade, she had sensed that something was amiss. How thrilled she had been when she heard that Cesare was holding a lily.

Ornella was Traon's Lily.

Being presented with a lily amidst so many flowers, she naturally assumed it was a gift for her. Waiting with Leon for Cesare in front of the palace, she was ecstatic.

But Cesare came empty-handed.

Though she had heard he was holding a lily, she couldn't fathom why he was empty-handed. Perhaps he had given it away to a child during the parade. She dismissed it.
