Chapter 3: Riya and Alena

"Well, all that aside, can you enlighten me about what my new system is capable of? I'm eager to learn about how its features operate and how they'll enhance my journey."

"At this moment, the only functionality available to you includes the ability to view your own status or the status of others. The remaining features—those that you'll find truly transformative—will only become accessible after a full year has elapsed."

"Wait, are you serious? I have to wait an entire year before I can utilize the system's main features? Why on earth can't I access them right now? It feels like I'm just biding time, wasting a precious year of my life!"

When Ray first discovered he was going to possess a system much like the ones depicted in his favorite novels, excitement bubbled within him. The anticipation of unlocking incredible abilities had sent his heart racing. But now, frustration gnawed at him, replacing the thrill with annoyance. How could something so promising come with such a hefty waiting period, where he could do little more than sit and twiddle his thumbs for what felt like an eternity?

"I fully understand your frustration, but believe me, this is structured with your best interests in mind. Look at it this way: during that year, you have a unique opportunity to grow mentally and strategically. With this system, you're on the path to becoming more powerful than many of the protagonists you've admired in stories. One year may seem daunting now, but once that time lapses, the impact of your growth and newfound abilities will be monumental—and all that preparation will pay off in ways you can't even envision right now. In this waiting period, your greatest weapon is the knowledge you garner about this world but if things change because of you before the storyline starts, it's entirely possible that you'll have to face enemies far stranger than anything you could ever imagine... and it could ultimately lead to your untimely demise. The weight of such a reality hangs heavy on Ray's shoulders, a portentous whisper that nudges at the back of his mind, reminding him that each choice he makes could ripple forward into the unknown.

"Well," he mused aloud, grappling with the gravity of it all, "I think you're right. If I truly want to cultivate my strength, practice is crucial. But if I become too powerful too quickly because of this system, people will simply chalk it up to my innate talent, and that kind of attention can be a double-edged sword. It could very well throw the entire storyline into disarray." The notion of meddling with the fabric of destiny sent shivers down his spine.

"Oh! So you have a brain in your head, that's good," the system quipped with a note of sarcasm that was impossible to miss. "Now, why don't you get ready and head down? You've got a life to live, and who knows what challenges await?"

Ray chose to ignore the system's mocking tone, feeling a swell of determination rise within him as he walked towards the bathroom. Standing before the mirror, he was momentarily taken aback by his striking reflection. Gone was the timid young boy; instead, he beheld a handsome figure whose visage he recognized from the game-silver hair cascading like a waterfall, deep silver eyes that seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly light, as if they could devour the very essence of everything they saw. His skin was impeccably pale, exuding a sense of ethereal purity, and his physique struck an ideal balance-not too thin, yet not overly bulky, suggesting both agility and strength.

With a newfound sense of purpose, he brushed his hair back and grinned. "Well, let's see how my new family is doing. I can't wait to meet my new mom and my cute sister!"

After stepping out of the bathroom, I made my way downstairs, the scent of breakfast wafting through the air, enticing my senses and making my stomach rumble with anticipation. As I entered the dining hall, a warm glow from the sunlight streaming through the windows illuminated my sister Riya, who was sitting quietly at the table, her hands folded neatly in her lap, patiently waiting for me to join her.

"Good morning, Riya," I greeted her with a smile, settling down beside her. The dining hall, with its rustic charm and the faint sound of birds chirping outside, felt like the perfect setting for a heart-to-heart.

"Good morning, brother," she replied, her tone friendly yet earnest. "By the way, you know, sometimes you really should think about waking up early and squeezing in some exercise or practice. It could do wonders for you."

As she spoke, Riya held my gaze, her eyes filled with a mix of concern and hope. It was as if she was trying to convey just how important this was to her, and I could sense that she genuinely wanted the best for me. Yes, this was the familiar refrain she often directed towards Ray, our other brother, who had a notorious reputation for being the laziest one in the house. Ironically, though, Ray always seemed to brush off her suggestions, immersing himself in his own world of distractions.

But I wasn't Ray, and I was determined to shed the laziness that had plagued our family dynamic. I chuckled softly to myself, realizing that this might just be the moment that marked a change. With a renewed sense of purpose, I thought, it's time to change things up. After all, the journey to becoming the best version of myself wasn't going to start without a little commitment.

Before I could even muster a reply to Riya, the door swung open, revealing a striking mature woman who filled the room with her presence. While she may not fit the mold of a stereotypical beauty, there was an undeniable charm about her that captivated Ray completely. Alena, with her long black hair cascading down to her shapely backside, appeared before him as if she were a vision pulled right from a daydream. Her dark eyes sparkled with warmth and affection, and though time had etched a few subtle wrinkles near their corners, they only served to enhance her character, suggesting a life rich with experiences. Despite having crossed the threshold of her thirties, Alena's luscious pink lips seemed to beckon for attention, making them appear irresistible—almost as if they were tempting anyone nearby to take a gentle bite.

She glided into the room wearing a form-fitting blue dress that expertly clung to her average yet alluring figure, accentuating her generous D-cup bust and accentuating the curves of her tight, round rear. The way the fabric hugged her body told a story of confidence and grace, as if she were well aware of the beauty she possessed and wasn't afraid to show it. "Ray, Riya, breakfast is ready! Let's eat," she declared with a gentle smile that could melt the coldest of hearts.

In Ray's life, Alena was more than just a mother; she was a steadfast pillar of love and support. In the absence of a husband, she threw herself wholeheartedly into caring for her beloved children, Riya and Ray. Every moment spent with them was not merely an obligation; it was a treasure. After losing her partner, Alena found solace by focusing on her family, and in turn, her love for her son and daughter blossomed into something profound. She was willing to go above and beyond, making endless sacrifices to ensure their happiness. Her nurturing spirit made their home a haven, filled with laughter, warmth, and the irresistible aroma of her lovingly prepared meals—a reminder that even in the face of hardships, familial bonds could flourish beautifully But in the end it was destroyed by Jack in original game.

"Oh! It seems you're discussing something important. Can you share a bit of your chit-chat?" Lisa asked, a radiant smile lighting up her face. In that moment, her smile captivated me, leaving only one thought echoing in my mind: beautiful. I almost forgot everything else.

"Nothing much, just Riya reminding me not to get lazy and to start practicing so I can get into university," I replied, shaking off my dazed state.

"So, are you going to get serious about your training, or are you planning to stay as you are? You only have one year, and if you can't enter the magic state this year, you'll have to wait another whole year," she pressed.

"Yes, I'll start my practice today and do my best to enter the magic state within a year, so both of us can join the academy together," I answered, turning to Riya.

As soon as I declared my commitment to take practice seriously, both of them stared at me with shocked expressions. I couldn't blame them; it was a bold statement when it's come from Ray.

If someone who knows me really well were to overhear me, they would probably burst into laughter. But the truth is, I'm not just taking his place; from now on, no one will ever look down on me again, and I'm determined to make that happen.
