Dominic checked the caller ID and saw it was Rosalie. He didn't bother to reply and hung up.
He ran after Celine who walked out angrily from the room. She went to the garden beside the mansion and sat down on a bench, in tears.
She didn't know she was angry. But she felt he had gone too far by lying that he loved her.
"Celine." Dominic called, sitting beside her. She rolled her eyes at him and stood up to leave but he grabbed her arm, pulling her to himself.
"Leave me alone!" She yelled, hitting him on the chest.
"Celine, listen to me!" He tried to persuade her but she wasn't ready to listen.
"Who was that lady? You have someone else, right?" She cried.
"Cel, believe me. You're the only one in my life."
She scoffed. "There you go again, sweet talking me with your sugar-coated tongue!" She sniffed, turning her back at him.
Dominic sighed and moved closer to her. "Don't you trust me?"
She was quiet and didn't speak. He kept talking but she didn't give a reply.
"Do you remember that lady you had a fight with at the company?"
Celine looked up when she heard him. That crazy lady, was she the one who called him? She was the one who addressed her husband as 'baby'?
"She's in love with you, isn't it?" Celine paused and chuckled. "Go marry her then." She snapped.
"There's nothing between us. She's just my childhood friend." He told her. He really didn't believe she could get jealous.
"How do you expect me to believe you?"
"You don't trust me?"
Celine walked out of his presence and went in. He prepared lunch for them but she didn't eat it. When it was time for dinner too, she refused to answer his call and slept on an empty stomach.
Her things were been brought to the house already and she picked up a black dress with matching shoes. Whenever she was angry, she would dress so elegantly that any guy would be tempted to ask her out.
Dominic watched her as she made for the door. He couldn't take his eyes off her, she just look so beautiful but this dress... it's so short.
Celine heard Dominic call her name and she turned around. She noticed the scrutinising look he gave her and she chuckled inwardly. She was going to get back at him too.
"Why are you staring at me that way? Do you have a problem with the way I'm dressed?"
Dominic nodded. "You're a married woman and that dress is too short for you."
"Do you expect me to dress like a widow because I'm married to you? Oh and I almost forgot, how's your mistress?" She asked with a calm smile but her balled fists showed the rage she had within her.
Dominic let out a sigh and walked forward, carrying her bridal style. He dropped her when they got to the room and opened her wardrobe, picking a jean pants and a red top.
"This are the right clothes for a woman who's married. Just look at the way you're dressed. I don't want other guys staring at your body?" He said.
Celine clapped with a grin. "Really? Interesting! But I'm not going to wear this, okay? And if you try to stop me from leaving, I'll wear something shorter than this!"
As expected, Dominic allowed her and she exited the room with a proud smile on her face.
Without bothering to wait for him to come outside, she flagged down a cab that took her to work.
She waved at her colleagues as she made her way to her cubicle. Everyone was surprised that she looked so cheerful today compared to her first day at work.
....It was now 12:30pm and it was time for lunch. Celine yawned and stood up to go to the cafeteria.
"Hi, Celine." A lady waved at her. She was a member of the HR department too and she had been working at Melanin Enterprise for three years now.
"Hi.." Celine waved back.
"I'm Eve." She stretched her hand for an handshake and Celine took it. "Do you mind if we go to the cafeteria together?"
Celine didn't plan to go with someone else but she nodded. Apart from being crazy, she had a friendly personality and appreciated making new friends.
"Let's go." She held Eve's hand and they both proceeded to the cafeteria.
After placing an order, they sat to eat and Eve started a conversation.
"Thought you wouldn't accept my offer of tagging along." She began with a smile. "Others think you're very strict and I thought you'd shun me."
Celine was amazed at Eve's words, she had barely spent two days at the company and people had started to gossip about her?
"I'm a very nice person, Eve. You guys shouldn't think I'm a monster." She replied with a smile.
"At least, I know you're a good person and I'm impressed by your joviality. Can we be friends?" Eve asked.
"Of course." Celine agreed, ever since she was little she had never made any friends because her classmates were scared of her due to her short temper.
Even the school bullies never dared to approach her. There was a girl who was the head of the school bullies who loved to call her names and insult her, but after Celine broke her knee, she learnt to maintain her distance.
They discussed a lot of things, ranging from fashion to music, and nature.
Dominic on the other hand went to Celine's department to look for her but someone told her she had gone to the cafeteria.
Dominic began to wonder, did she go to the cafeteria with a guy? He needed to go look for her.
Taking two steps, his phone rang and he sighed, seeing who the caller was.
"Why did you call?" He asked, completely disgusted.
"Dom, why did you hang up on me yesterday?" Rosalie pouted at the other end.
"What do you want, Rosalie? I've told you to stay away from me, didn't I?" He hissed.
"Don't you think you owe me one?"
Dominic scoffed and quipped. "I owe you nothing, Rosalie."
Rosalie chuckled at the other end. She had been with him for more than twenty years, showing him the best of love and now he thought he could dispose her like garbage. Simply because he found his soulmate?
No, no, no!
"My heart still beats for you, Dominic."
Dear Rosalie is in love. One word for her....
