Chapter 83: Chapter 83: The Vast Laboratory of the Botanical Wizard

Within the subspace of the Four Seasons Garden, Sunan and his troops had fully entered the garden. Despite being mentally prepared, the sight still left him awestruck.

Surrounding them were gigantic grasses and flowers—roses, carnations, orchids, and man-eating plants. Even the most common roadside weeds were now as large as houses.

Among these oversized plants were enormous ants, worms, and even a bird in the sky as large as a mountain.

Suspended above the Four Seasons Garden was a sun that never dimmed.

In this immense garden, Sunan and his troops appeared as if magically shrunk to the size of tiny people.

Sunan even noticed elephants, leopards, and tigers at their feet, appearing no bigger than pebbles.

In this garden, large things became small, and small things became large.

It seemed the natural laws here had been transformed by magic.

Could this be the world altered by the oak wizard over two thousand years ago using botanical magic?

Vasilian and Warwick were overwhelmed.

As two ordinary humans drawn into the magical world by Sunan, witnessing this marvel left them profoundly shaken.

This was evidently the prize sought by the church, cultists, and the Forgotten Ones.

It was certainly worth fighting for.

The spectacle was simply magnificent.

From Sunan's perspective, the situation was even more complex. His pupils turned blue, concentrating high-energy magical power in his eyes.

He activated his Spiritual Vision, a wizard-exclusive sense transcending the five senses, offering a new mode of perception.

Seeing more meant knowing more.

The essence of exploring knowledge is finding ways to observe and explore the world more than others.

To Sunan's eyes, the entire Four Seasons Garden contained a terrifying amount of magical power, surprising him even in the current ebb of the magic tide.

This suggested that casting plant-related magic here might be easier and more potent.

Conversely, death, frost, fire, and other magics conflicting with natural magic seemed suppressed.

It appeared that Vasilian's capabilities in the Four Seasons Garden would be limited. However, werewolves, being a form of alternative life magic, wouldn't be enhanced but also wouldn't be suppressed by the natural magic permeating the air.

Sunan looked up at the sun in the sky. Unlike ordinary people, his Spiritual Vision revealed it wasn't a sun.

It was actually a "Sky Garden" floating above.

In that sky garden, massive red flowers, the size of small mountains, were planted. These flowers' blooms were ablaze.

The flames from these flowers coalesced into a sun-like entity, radiating energy throughout the Four Seasons Garden, replenishing the magical plants.

Simultaneously, Sunan's wizardly sight observed winds in the garden's sky, carrying dandelion-like seeds into the sky garden.

These dandelions became fuel, sustaining the flame flowers, which in turn radiated energy across the garden.

Sunan immediately thought of a term—"Ecological Bottle"!

Or an ecological box.

On Earth, some people would create a small-scale simulated ecosystem in a bottle or glass aquarium, balancing bacteria, fish, and plants.

The vast subspace garden before him was likely the ecological masterpiece of the oak wizard and his apprentices from over two millennia ago.

From the sun to the sky to the land, it was filled with signs of botanical magic alteration.

Amazingly, this ecosystem was still functioning normally even after two thousand years.

Sunan remarked, "So this is the laboratory of the botanical wizards."

"I wonder where the oak wizard went. Normally, wizard schools wouldn't let outsiders into their laboratories."

"But now, I can easily access the data from their experiments. In some sense, I'm quite fortunate."

Sunan commanded his cognitive system. 'Cognitive system, start recording relevant data. Could the botanical magic data here aid in developing the new magic series, the Great Tree Guardian Potion series?'

[Yes. Since you are a first-rank wizard apprentice and have entered the botanical school laboratory, it's likely you could complete the Great Tree Guardian Potion formula calculations within this subspace.]

[Please continuously release mana waves around you every 5 seconds.]

[Analysis shows that behind each plant here are traces of magic spells, some strong and some weak. The weakest are negligible to you, but the strongest may far exceed your magical power.]

[Hypothesis 1: This wasn't completed by one person. Perhaps it was the formal wizard and his many apprentices together.]

[Hypothesis 2: This may not have been created in one fell swoop. Considering this is a naturally occurring subspace, it might be the oak wizard's work from when he started as a third-rank wizard apprentice and grew. If correct, this garden maze contains all the magic the oak wizard learned from apprentice to formal wizard.]

[This is a natural magic inheritance site.]

Sunan nodded. For most people, even knowing this was useless, as reverse-analyzing magical phenomena required overwhelming computational work.

Sunan noticed Robert in his party didn't look well. "Robert, what's wrong? Are you injured?"

"There are many magical plants here. I can find a medicinal plant to heal you quickly."

Sunan's army comprised werewolves, death knights, and golems, so he hadn't prepared any medicine for ordinary humans.

But for a master of potions, entering this botanical wizard laboratory felt like returning home.

This was half his home field.

Everywhere were magic plants with special energies, a paradise for an alchemical wizard.

Robert weakly smiled at Sunan. "Lord Sunan. I don't know why, but entering this garden makes me feel incredibly weak, and each breath is painful."

"Am I too weak?"

Sunan realized something. 'Cognitive system, analyze the air contents.'

[Yes, the air contains many floral scents, but that's not directly causing Robert's weakness. The air is saturated with magic, and this place seems completely isolated from the outside.]

[Hypothesis 1: As a faith knight, Robert is harmed by high concentrations of magical power.]

[Hypothesis 2: The Four Seasons Garden may be severing his link to the Storm God. If so, his connection was already too weak.]

Sunan thought for a moment. "Robert, ride on the obsidian bull statue."

'Cognitive system, record data on Robert's physical changes.'

Robert gratefully glanced at Sunan, "Yes, my lord."

He climbed onto the obsidian bull statue's back.

Sunan scanned the surroundings. "Aul told me all formal wizards have wizard towers."

"So now the goal is to navigate the maze and enter the wizard tower. The tower should be the true core of the Four Seasons Garden. How do we exit the maze?"

"Where have the church, cultists, and Forgotten Ones gone?"

As a test, Sunan led his troops forward, but everywhere they went, they were surrounded by giant plants and insects.

Along the way, they even encountered an assault from a cricket the size of a small house.

The cricket likely saw them as prey.

Here, the normal material plane food chain had flipped.

Now insects ate elephants, and crickets hunted humans.

Death Knight Vasilian leaped onto the cricket's back and plunged his black blade into its brain, turning it to mush, killing it.

These insects might bully ordinary human soldiers, but to a death knight, they were manageable.

Though enlarged, Sunan noted these insects were failed experiments; their bodies grew, but their strength did not.

For instance, insects lack lungs, only breathing holes. With enlarged bodies, they couldn't intake enough oxygen, rendering them sluggish, weak, and poorly defended.

Under a giant mushroom, Sunan noticed a pool of human blood. Insects typically have colorless, yellow, orange-red, blue-green, or green blood, starkly different from human blood.

Sunan's Spiritual Vision revealed the blood contained significant magic, clearly a wizard's blood. "The Forgotten Ones are already injured."

"Was it the cultists, the church, or is there something within this garden capable of threatening a second-rank wizard apprentice?"
