Chapter 10: 010- Maybe you have an idea but I'm not sure you do.

"Denim make sure you take of those girls, they're your angels"

" you don't have to say that"

" I know what I'm saying kid and yeah your dad has a 30% shares at the firm"

" didn't even know he was that rich"

" he didn't have to tell you, did he? and Yeah I brought the documents, you have to sign some especially the shares transfer deed"

After getting some of the contracts, with all the parting pleasantries said he left telling me to show up early next week for the trial, I went inside ate and went straight to bed.

Time passed and 8 days went by. It was the day of the trial and after meeting up with uncle g we went together to the court.

The judge was very skeptical during the case especially considering my age, she was all about adoption and seeking parenthood and Yeah she was a SHE, you know how they are when they see cute little boys especially one seeking emancipation, motherly instincts kicks in regardless of profession and so after convincing her like we would to a mum she finally ruled in favor of us.

"I guess you're an adult now aren't you" Uncle g said to me once we came out of the court.

" ah come on you know I've always been one" I replied flashing a smile.

" Den I know we're done but you're sure about this?"

" Yeah man, it's the best thing for me now I get to focus on myself with no societal "minor" limitations you feel me"

" Yeah son. You do you, plus you have a family now so you cant afford to be a minor"

" Yeah I'm a family man" I replied

" haha " laughs very hard" maybe you have an idea but I'm not sure you do" he said

" Yeah I have to go, always on the move den. That's the life of an adult." He added

" I could get used to it" I said

" And Uncle G I've been thinking if I can acquire the firm and all its subsidiaries, I mean the work agency, the financial agency and the other parts of the firm"

" For the right price you can acquire just about anything kid" He replied

" I'll get back to you, with the right price" I said

" some grand dreams you have kid, I'll be waiting"

After chatting for a while we parted ways. On the way home I was thinking about how beneficial it will be to get the law firm, at least I'll be able to have some of the future football stars at my agency and I'll also be able to make good investments without having to do it by myself and also considering the fact that I can also delve a foot into the Hollywood business if time shows up maybe write some movies during summer before the season restarts, so the start of everything shall be acquiring the firm and putting my uncle in charge. Tho I have some trust in him I'll still put my things under my legal ownership because money can change just about anyone and that's the reason why emancipation was totally necessary.

"Anybody Home, your boy is back" I screamed when I entered.

" c'mon I was really enjoying my sleep" Alana replied.

" were you sacked or something why are you home by now"

" Yeah the same old story. The manager wants to get me to an hotel after work but I passed"

" Oh, He has a very bad taste" I replied

" Ah shut up"

"C'mon bae was that really enough to get to you. You look so Grumpy where's my cheerful Alana"

"Den you want me to be honest" sha asked and I said yes thinking she was about to say something really serious.

" I don't think we'll be eating tonight, I can't even pay rent. I'm soo cooked" she said tearfully.

"Ah alay thy fear now Alana, for you are in presence of a billionaire, in transit" I said remembering Bridgerton one of my favorite movies.

" you always take things for joke but den I'm serious I really don't know what to do maybe I should have gone with him atleast few minutes of sex would have solved all these" she said and immediately my face changed.

" Alana?!!" I called.

" what"

"Having sex with him would only make things worse because you'd be forced to do it over and over again, and I don't want my Alana having sex with some Grumpy middle aged man so get yourself together"

She stayed silent for a while but I could feel her fears but I didn't say anything, it's always better to stay silent and allow women get their thoughts together in these situations your presence might just be all they need and moreover with women I've learnt that that it's better to be like the sun, showering them with constant warmth but always being out of reach.

"How was the case she asked after a while"

" guess who's now the adult"

" eww that makes you sound like a kid, well....I guess you're a kid anyways" she replied with womanly teasing expression that strucked my ego.

" want me to show you that I'm not" I said looking at her from head to toe

" how about we go shopping" I added before she could reply saving myself but she still lashed out.

" don't look at me like that again, it'll make me feel unsafe with you and I'm not joking Alright" she said loudly with an expression that depicted seriousness but something made me feel ticked off and I lashed back

" Listen with all due respect, why would you go from teasing me like that to getting angry at me for responding like a man" I replied with a voice that showed no hint of anger a result of my years of controlling myself from lashing out at some coaches when they make unreasonable demands.

" Because for me you're still a boy" she replied.

" you don't tell someone that has their life In their hands things like that, I make my own decisions, I take my personal responsibilities, I plan for my own future so I'm all but a kid okay"

"Being called a kid for me is no insult, but you said it in an insulting context and I don't like it. It sounded like a " what can this litttle kid do" tone with a teasing expression that I could recognize anywhere on your face but then I replied and now you're angry right, you can't even eat a plate of what you serve. Going about talking shit about being unsafe with me when you're the one that went all provoking and teasing" I said matter of factly.

For a while she remained silent looking at me with an angry expression and I knew this was far from over but for me I don't think I'm the kind to sit and start arguing with a woman so I just stood up grabbed my clothes and went to the kitchen to check for the things I should buy at the mall while she like every other woman started hurling insults and words that she probably didn't mean and some of dem words hurt alot but I knew she'll come around so I didn't reply plus I had said my mind already so there was nothing more to talk about.

" Alana what happened" Alicia who just walked in asked Alana who was already crying.

" I guessed I should have just left him outside to die. Nobody would have taken you in anyways" she said maybe because she felt belittled by the fact that I walked away and I didn't reply to all her taunts but this time I was angry, truly angry. I turned and took a glance at both girls ready to drill some words into her childish brain but Alicia looked at me with a pleading gaze and gestured for me to go out first. After taking a last glance at her with a "NIGERIAN" bombastic side eye which I learnt from my dad, I tucked my hands into my pocket and walked out and then I remembered when my dad used to do the same when my mum starts with her taunts and a conversation I had with uncle G just few hours ago

FEW HOURS AGO

" Yeah son. You do you plus you have a family now"

" Yeah I'm a family man"

" haha " laughs very hard" maybe you have an idea but I'm not sure you do" He replied.

" Yeah I have to go, always on the move den. That's the life of an adult." He added

" I could get used to it" I replied

PRESENT

"Ah" I sighed all my anger drifting away.

"Guess it's harder than I thought it would be" I said as I walked on the pavements making my way to the mall.
