Chapter 25: Hesitation and Doubt

The morning sunshine dim through the windows of Scarlett's apartment. Scarlett sat at the dining table, her fingers drumming anxiously on the table. Nathan leaned against the edge of the table; his arms folded tightly on his chest. His expression was unreadable as he contemplates on their recent discovery. They were both silent. Their meeting with Victoria the previous night still fresh in their minds.

"She's hiding something, and I can't seem to have an idea of what it might be." Nathan said, breaking the silence.

Scarlett looked up at Nathan with a pitiful expression. "She has been through hell, Nathan. Of course, she would want to protect herself, you can't blame her."

"That's not what I mean, there's more to her story... There is more to her story than she's telling us. And if she's still connected to Grayson, that makes her a liability, she can't be trusted."
