What the hell is this? Did these Nikkes die because of their commanders and now crawl back from the depths of hell for revenge?
Mo Chen finally understood why Signal had been so terrified earlier. Even he felt chills running down his spine after seeing these things.
But it wasn't over.
The number of these eerie Nikkes kept increasing, continuously emerging from beneath the snow-covered ground.
Their broken, stumbling figures pressed closer, staggering forward like zombies.
In just a few minutes, there were already dozens—no, hundreds of them.
A sea of glowing red eyes.
Mo Chen's arms transformed into razor-sharp blades.
He stepped forward, his figure shooting out like a bullet. The virus-forged blades carved deadly arcs through the air, slashing outward in bursts of lethal energy.
The infected Nikkes around him were flung back one by one, unable to close the distance.
A slash cut cleanly through one of the Nikkes, slicing it in half with a sharp crack.
Mo Chen's gaze swept over the fallen enemy, his heart sinking.
The bodies of these Nikkes were dilapidated, rusted, and weathered. Many of them had exposed skeletal structures made of metal, clearly indicating they had been dead for years—maybe even over a decade.
In other words—these Nikkes were already dead!
Yet, like vengeful spirits, they crawled forward with their broken bodies.
Even if they were missing arms or legs, they still staggered toward him with unsettling determination.
Their voices—low, eerie whispers—chilled him to the bone.
"Commander, am I just a burden to you..."
"You promised to take me with you..."
"Why did you leave without saying a word..."
"Commander... Commander..."
The voices grew sharper and more frantic.
Their words carried deep resentment, as if they were abandoned lovers demanding answers.
All the infected Nikkes spoke in unison, their crimson eyes staring at Mo Chen.
From their eyes flowed tears of blood, streaking down their faces and leaving crimson trails.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Ludmilla and Alice provided covering fire, their weapons roaring as bullets rained down on the infected.
But no matter how many they shot, more and more Nikkes emerged from the ground.
Even in the distance, figures stumbled out of the ruins, limping toward them like an endless tide.
"Clang!"
"Swish—!"
"Boom!"
Mo Chen landed a powerful punch, sending a nearby infected Nikke flying backward.
He quickly retreated, breaking free from the encirclement.
This isn't working.
As he fought, he realized something was wrong.
The number of infected Nikkes kept increasing, as if they were endless.
And worse—these Nikkes seemed empowered by some mysterious force.
Despite being mere mass-production models, they now fought with the strength of standard combat units.
Mo Chen's mind raced.
This place... It was once a frontline outpost during humanity's counterattack. Tens of thousands of Nikkes died here.
Suddenly—
"Ah—!"
A desperate scream pierced through the night.
One of the Nikkes from the scouting team had been caught.
An infected Nikke grabbed her by the hair, disarming her.
Its sharp blade was raised high, ready to pierce her throat!
Ludmilla's heart sank.
She spun her gun around, aiming at the enemy, but it was too late.
"Bang—!"
Almost simultaneously, before Ludmilla could pull the trigger, a figure shot forward.
It was Mo Chen.
He severed the infected Nikke in half with a single strike.
Then, with a swift motion, he grabbed the captive Nikke's wrist and yanked her away, narrowly avoiding another infected Nikke's ambush.
"Ah—!"
The Nikke who had just been rescued was still shaken. When she looked again, Mo Chen was already gone.
"Retreat."
Mo Chen decisively issued the order: the enemy's numbers were overwhelming.
Meanwhile, his group had too many injured.
Without hesitation, he unleashed the Punishing Virus, spreading it across the area.
Countless Raptures burst out from beneath the snow-covered ground.
These were remnants of the Raptures that had been killed more than a decade ago.
Under Mo Chen's control, the Raptures joined forces with the advance unit Nikkes, engaging the infected Nikkes in fierce combat.
Originally, Mo Chen had intended to use the Punishing Virus to infect these Nikkes as well.
However, to his surprise, the virus had no effect on them.
Or rather, the virus invaded their bodies but caused no reaction.
"Retreat!"
Ludmilla also received Mo Chen's signal and quickly led the injured Nikkes away.
If they were surrounded, given their current condition, death was almost certain.
Mo Chen spotted Alice still firing from a nearby hill and immediately rushed toward her. Grabbing her wrist, he pulled her along as they ran.
"Ah! It's Rabbity! Rabbity, are we going to fight the Queen of Hearts?"
"You're so smart. Ten points for you."
Then, he noticed Signal still standing there in a daze. Without hesitation, he grabbed her waist and threw her over his shoulder.
No time to stand around—did she want to be zombie food?
The group made a rapid retreat.
Behind them, the infected Nikkes chased relentlessly. Even from a distance, their eerie voices could still be heard echoing through the snowy night.
"What… exactly are those things?"
Ludmilla glanced back at the terrifying horde, feeling a chill rise in her heart.
These Nikkes weren't afraid of pain or death. They resembled zombies—or perhaps vengeful spirits bound by some curse.
"No idea. Maybe they're fans."
Mo Chen replied offhandedly.
After all, isn't this how fan meet-and-greets always go?
Ludmilla hadn't expected him to crack a joke in such a dire moment.
But as she glanced back at the Nikkes chasing them like obsessed stalkers, she couldn't help but laugh.
"Are they your fans, by any chance?"
Mo Chen seriously considered it.
"With this many beauties chasing me, I suppose it wouldn't be so bad."
Was he actually thinking about this right now?
Ludmilla suddenly recalled that this rising-star commander was rumored to be quite popular.
Just then, the ground began to rumble violently, accompanied by a deafening roar.
The earth beneath their feet heaved like rippling water.
The tremors made it impossible to stand still, forcing everyone to grab hold of whatever they could for balance.
Alice, on the other hand, fell directly into Mo Chen's arms.
Her petite, soft body was like a tiny rabbit, warm and delicate.
The sensation against his chest—the slender hands, tender cheeks, and an unexpectedly mature figure—made a phrase flash through Mo Chen's mind: warm fragrance and soft jade.
"Roar—!"
A guttural roar echoed as dirt and rocks fell in cascades.
A massive creature burst out from underground.
Towering over ten meters, its thin, spindly limbs resembled those of a spider.
Its grotesque form loomed above them.
To Mo Chen's shock, the monstrous being opened its maw—and spoke in a disturbingly human voice.
"Commander…"
"Why did you abandon me…"
Ludmilla froze, then turned to Mo Chen and asked, "Is that one of your fans too?"
Mo Chen's face turned pale.
