Chapter 21: Nevermore
Viktor and Raven went onto the deck to talk with Blitzo. Having noticed them, Blitzo greeted them, " Hey guys what's up? We're currently heading to the Hell Kingdom, but it'll take at least another day before we get there."
Viktor wrapped his arm around Blitzo and said menacingly in his ear, " Oh, I'm not here for that. It seems you've gotten real comfortable ordering my crew around. You do remember I'm the boss when we're on the ship, right?"
Raven came up to the other side of Blitzo and put her arm around his shoulder like Viktor did and whispered in his other ear, " Damn Bltizo, pretty ballsy to just take command like that. Gotta admit, I'm intrigued."
Raven then brandished a knife and whispered, " Seems like I'm going to take care of you and those balls personally."
Raven's psychotic laughter that followed was the last straw for Blitzo.
Usually, he'd be into someone wanting to take care of his balls, but he was well aware of what Raven truly meant. And that was one kink he just couldn't deal with.
Blitzo begged, " Please, anything but that. I didn't mean to overstep my bounds. You guys were busy in the captain's quarters and I wanted to make sure we were still on course."
Viktor and Raven realized that their joke went to far and consoled Blitzo.
" Shit, sorry about that Blitzo, didn't mean to scare you like that. Someone took the joke too far." Viktor said while starring daggers at Raven.
Raven quickly tried to defend herself, " Hey, don't look at me like that. I was tortured not to long ago and the trauma's still fresh. Remember, it was your idea to tease him like this, not mine."
" Hey, I was tortured just as you were, but I'm not losing my shit." Viktor said while assuming the Dio from JoJo's Bizzare Adventure pose.
This pissed Raven off and she approached him to knock some sense in him. She could've just used her devil fruit ability to make him come to her, but it seems she's still adjusting to it.
Realizing what pose he was in, Viktor leapt at the opportunity," Oh, you're approaching me?"
Upon hearing this, Raven's posture changed to that of Jotaro Joestar's and replied, " I can't beat the shit without getting closer."
When Viktor heard this, he was stunned, 'What the actual fuck? How the hell did she respond so perfectly? Does she actually understand the JoJo's reference?'
Raven noticed that Viktor was off in a daze and grew concerned, " Hey, earth to Viktor, are you there?"
Viktor snapped out of his train of thought," Huh? Yeah, I'm doing fine. I was lost in thought for a second. Sorry for worrying you and not taking what happened to you into account. It won't happen again. "
Raven was dumbfounded that Viktor apologized so easily and her rage vanished.
Viktor then turned to Blitzo, " While I'm sorry we scared you, Raven and I do need to talk to you. Follow us to the captain's quarters. "
The trio of Viktor, Raven and Blitzo went to the captain's quarters to discuss business and everyone on deck could only think, ' Well, that happened. Definitely don't want to piss Raven off. I like my privates where they are.'
While in the captain's quarters, Viktor told Blitzo that he and Raven were going to another dimension via Raven's devil fruit powers and they needed him to cover for them.
Blitzo agreed to help, but he had questions, " OK, I understand you won't be around, so I need to take command, but what if something major like a pirate attack happens, is there anyway to contact you guys while you're in there?"
Raven then handed to Blitzo the mirror they were going to use to delve onto Raven's mindscape, " If you need to get in touch with us, just tap on this mirror with your finger and it'll let me know there's an emergency and we'll travel back."
" However, don't put your whole hand on the mirror, I repeat, don't put your whole hand on the mirror. It'll cause you to be sucked into the dimension we're going. Lastly, don't let the mirror break, it'll trap us in the dimension." Raven warned Blitzo sternly.
Since Viktor already knew about the events of Nevermore from the Teen Titans show, he asked Raven to put a sort of pass code to help prevent anyone from entering
After Blitzo nodded his head, Raven and Viktor both put their hands on the mirror and they were sent into Raven's mindscape.
Upon entering Raven's mindscape, all Viktor and Raven could see was a barren wasteland and the sky was pitch dark. Waiting to greet them were 8 hooded figures that all looked like Raven's phantom beast form with the following colors: Pink, Gray, Green, Orange, Yellow, Violet, Brown, and Red.
The red Raven screamed at Viktor in rage, " Goddammit Viktor, I thought you knew what I went through. How else was I supposed to react? I'll kill anyone that dares lay finger on me or you. I'LL KILL THEM ALL!!"
The gray Raven cried, " I'm just a little girl! Why does the world seem to have it out for me? Poor Professor Jones, will we even be able to fix him?"
The green Raven raised her fists, " Cmon Viktor, 1v1 me bro."
The orange Raven mocked Viktor, " Do you really think you're strong? Then why is Professor Jones so broken?"
The brown Raven just yawned and fell asleep, while the Violet Raven looked at Viktor lovingly, " Hey Viktor, it really means a lot to me thay you came to comfort me, but are you alright? I don't know what I'd do without you, the boy I fell in love with-"
Raven grew embarrassed as her Violet self kept on blurring all her feelings of love towards him and put her hand on her other self's move, " Please shut up! I don't want him to know that! What the hell is going on?"
" We are all different sides of your personality. The Pink Raven represents your happiness. The gray one represents your timidity, sadness, sense of loneliness, insecurity and fear. The green one represents your bravery and fighting spirit. The orange one represents your rudeness and sarcasm. The brown one represents your laziness.The red one represents your angry and sadistic side. While I, the yellow one, represents your analytical side." The yellow one explained.
" OK, I think I get what you're saying, but what's that adult version of me supposed to represent?"
The adult Raven then approached Raven and Viktor and dropped a shokcing piece of intelligence, " I represent your past life. "
This realization shocked Raven so much her brain stopped working and she simply said, " Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?"
Viktor was shocked at this realization as well, but he first wanted to make sure Raven was ok,." Hey Raven, you still there?"
Raven grumbled, " Go away, Raven isn't working right now."
Realizing that Raven needed some time to process this, Viktor turned to adult Raven and casually said, " Wow, so you're Raven's past life. I guess that means she's a reincarnator like I am."
Raven snapped out of her stupor and was joined by her red side as the both of them screamed, " Your a reincarnator?! Why didn't you tell me? You better have a good explanation for this, or I'm gonna beat your ass black and blue."
Taken aback by being yelled at by two Ravens, Viktor replied," I didn't think you'd believe me if I told you. I don't exactly have a lot of proof. Also, I was worried that admitting it might cause some backlash from the world itself, so I kept quiet. I'm so sorry I kept this from you. I'm honestly relieved you finally know. "
This response managed to calm Raven down and adult Raven began to speak to Raven, " Like I told Viktor, I represent your past life. However, as a protection mechanism, I don't have access to your past life's memories. Only be merging with you can we begin the process of recovering our lost memories. This process will probably take years though, right Viktor?"
Viktor nodded, " Yes, that's right. I'm curious, after you complete merging with Raven, will you disappear having served your purpose?"
Adult Raven replied, " No, I'll stay in Raven's mind and represent her mature side."
Raven interrupted their conversation exasperated, " Could you guys slow down? I haven't even been able to process the other me's, not to mention my past life."
Raven then began meditating while chanting, " Azarath Metrion Zinthos. " over and over again. The other Raven's, including adult Raven joined her in meditating. After over an hour of meditating, all the Raven's opened their eyes.
" OK, I think I understand the situation know. I'm going to start integrating with adult me."
" Hold up, I wanna ask adult you something. Do you remember if you're from Earth or not? The reason I'm asking is that earlier there was a weird moment when you made a perfect JoJo's reference."
Adult Raven nodded, " Yes, I'm from Earth. As for the moment you're describing, when you assumed that pose and said "Oh, you're approaching me?" I kind of took over and went on autopilot. However, I don't really understand the reference."
Viktor said, " OK, So it wasn't a coincidence. Well, that's all I had to say, you can carry on. "
Raven then started merging with her adult self and Viktor talked with the other Raven's. This continued for a couple of hours before Raven opened her eyes in alarm.
" We've got trouble. Someone just triggered the alarm I set up. We gotta go."
Raven quickly transported her and Viktor out if her mindscape and Blitzo greeted them with a panicked expression on his face, " Thank God you're back. We've got a pirate ship chasing us."
Viktor and Raven ran quickly to the deck of the ship with Blitzo following them in order to take command of the situation. There was no way they'd be captured by pirates again.
