Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Pokémon Shop

"The next goal is to defeat these champions!"

"If I can defeat all the champions, then I should have the strength of an intermediate Trainer. If I keep pushing, I can try my hand at challenging the examination for high-level Trainers!"

"Now that I have nearly 20,000 yen in funds, it looks like I can use this to help Sandshrew with some special training!"

Ryoma picked up the information on the Pokémon Club's training room. This training room still bore some resemblance to a gym, with most of the equipment aimed at enhancing the physical condition of Pokémon.

If one wanted to conduct special training on Pokémon's moves, the advice was to find specialized training coaches, with specific coaches available for the moves that needed practicing. However, the costs were substantial.

Ryoma then looked at the profiles of the training coaches, which included Raiden and the champion who used Scyther.

Raiden mainly teaches Electric-type Pokémon, specializing in moves like Thunder Punch and Thunderbolt, both of which Ryoma had witnessed; their power was indeed very strong, showcasing their potential effectively.

The Scyther champion primarily teaches Bug-type Pokémon, characterized by their incredible speed. Whether it's Quick Attack, Double Team, or Agility, he could teach them all very well.

Additionally, each Pokémon type had specialized coaches, and Ryoma was particularly interested in the Ground-type coach, who had a Rhydon.

"Rhydon?"

"A coach focused on strength and defense like that doesn't really suit Sandshrew; it seems I'll have to rely on myself!"

Ryoma shook his head slightly, starting to ponder the next steps in Sandshrew's training plan.

He had already planned for Sand Attack, but to train that move, he needed a sandy terrain, which he had previously identified as a suitable training location.

As for the training plan, Ryoma first intended to teach Sandshrew Rapid Spin. Since Rollout and Rapid Spin had similarities, he felt confident that Sandshrew could master it in a short time.

While examining the training room's equipment earlier, he also discovered an automatic turntable that could assist in training Rapid Spin.

"It's almost ten o'clock at night. I'll spend the night at the Pokémon Club. I can take the opportunity to use their training equipment to train Sandshrew," Ryoma decided.

About fifteen minutes later, the doctor walked out holding Sandshrew's Poké Ball, and Ryoma quickly approached him.

"Your Sandshrew has been treated for its injuries, but its physical development isn't very good. It's best to buy some nutritional supplies for Sandshrew, such as Miltank milk, which is excellent for nutrition," the doctor handed Sandshrew's Poké Ball to Ryoma and advised him seriously.

Ryoma nodded in agreement.

After releasing Sandshrew, he saw that aside from looking a bit tired, it had no significant issues, which relieved him. He thanked the doctor and left the hospital.

"Not very good in terms of physical development, huh?"

"It seems my next focus must be on improving Sandshrew's physical growth to make up for the shortcomings. Otherwise, even if it doesn't show now, it will certainly limit Sandshrew's growth in the future!"

As he walked, Ryoma's mind began to plan how to lay a solid foundation for Sandshrew.

While he was contemplating this, he found himself in front of a tall Pokémon Shop. Remembering the doctor's advice, he decided to go into the shop to buy some nutritional supplies for Sandshrew to help boost its health.

Thus, he put aside all his doubts and stepped into the Pokémon Shop.

"Devon Pokémon Shop?"

Looking at the name of the Pokémon Shop, Ryoma felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, as if he had heard it somewhere before.

When he noticed that the logo for Devon Pokémon Shop featured a metal dumbbell, he suddenly realized something, and his eyes widened.

Isn't this the company owned by Daisuke's family from the anime?

"Is it just a coincidence in naming?"

"But it can't be that coincidental, can it? Rather than it being a coincidence, I believe this Pokémon Shop must have discovered some heritage of the Devon Corporation within the Secret Realm, which is why it kept the name Devon!"

Thinking this, Ryoma became even more puzzled.

He already knew that much of the Pokémon civilization in this world came from the Secret Realm, where mysterious ruins like the Pokémon Research Institute and Pokémon Center had been discovered.

But why did these clearly man-made structures appear in the Secret Realm?

Where had the builders of these structures gone?

What connection did the Secret Realm have with the world of Pokémon?

And was this world of Pokémon the same as the one he knew?

Would Ash Ketchum, Misty, Brock, and other characters he recognized one day suddenly appear in the Secret Realm?

"Forget it! Overthinking won't help. What I need to do now is to get stronger quickly and become a Pokémon Hunter. Perhaps one day, I'll unravel all these questions myself!"

Ryoma shook his head slightly, dispelling all lingering doubts, and walked straight into Devon Pokémon Shop.

Inside Devon Pokémon Shop, everything for sale was related to Pokémon, with most items being Pokémon food and nutritional supplies. There were also a few Pokémon items and books on breeding Pokémon available for sale.

Ryoma wandered around the Pokémon Shop but didn't rush to buy the Miltank milk he was targeting this time. Instead, he headed over to the shelf with books on breeding Pokémon.

Not surprisingly, these books were all tightly wrapped, making it impossible to see their contents aside from the covers.

Ryoma glanced over and found that these books contained summarized knowledge about breeding Pokémon compiled by various authors. Some discussed how to care for Pokémon, while others focused on training their moves.

There was no doubt that these were the educational materials for Pokémon in this world. However, unlike in the games, where you could learn with one click, these documented learning methods depended primarily on the Pokémon's comprehension.

After looking at the books on moves for sale and noticing the prices often exceeding 10,000 yen, he shook his head slightly.

These items were indeed good, but the prices were too high, and there were no suitable books for breeding Sandshrew.

After leaving the shelf with the Pokémon books, he walked toward the counter displaying Pokémon items.
