Chapter 119: The Battle's Onset

"Onward, with me!" Limon's voice thundered across the plain as he urged Uzi into a swift gallop, veering away from the main host.

Behind him, the motley band of mercenaries under Qina, Celesna, and Teresa hastened their steps, their footfalls pounding in unison as they too broke away from the primary force.

In a trice, the ground trembled beneath their tread, and a contingent of some five hundred strong branched off from the left flank of the army, carving a path towards the left front.

"What in the blazes is that?" Limon muttered, his gaze drawn skyward as he led his troops across the barren wasteland. Shortly after parting ways with the main army, a curious spectacle caught his eye.

A flock of crows had seemingly materialized out of thin air above the host. They hurtled through the firmament with astonishing celerity, their raucous cries of "wow wow" scarcely audible if one's ears were not attuned.
