Chapter 44: Undead Patrol

Beneath the cold moonlight, on the desolate wilderness some 300 meters from the hillock, a ragged band of figures trudged forward, their forms silhouetted against the silvered landscape.

Even from this distance, their silhouettes were discernible, not just to the sharp-eyed mercenaries but even to the vigilant adventurers. There was a great multitude of them, huddled together in a dense mass, numbering at least in the hundreds.

At the vanguard were skeletal warriors, their frames draped in tattered leather and chainmail, rusted swords clutched in bony hands. Interspersed among these were mummies, similarly armored and armed with an assortment of weaponry - these were the undead warriors.

Further back, one could spy skeleton archers, their bony fingers gripping bows, with quivers of bone arrows slung across their backs. And at the rear, a few mummies garbed in tattered robes, clutching staves and donning wizard hats, could be seen - the dreaded corpse wizards.
