Chapter 32: The monsters attacking

Limon did not offer a verbal response to Teresa's words. Instead, he enfolded her in a tight embrace, drawing her lithe and graceful form closer to his own. In that moment, he was acutely aware of the fragility of their connection. The life of an adventurer was a perilous one, fraught with danger at every turn. Even someone as proficient and skilled as Limon was not immune to the threat of life-threatening injuries. He had no desire to bind Teresa to him with empty pledges. She was an elf, a being blessed with a long and extended lifespan, destined to experience countless lifetimes. To her, Limon might well be a mere transient figure in the vast expanse of her existence. Perhaps, a thousand years hence, she might still hold a faint recollection of him. But by then, the world would have undergone profound transformations, and the bond they shared now would likely have faded into insignificance.
