Chapter 7: Ch 7: A Sincere Request - Part 1

"Tsk, I will not waste my time cooking a separate breakfast for you. You can cook your food if you cannot eat what I make. A little tough work will make you return to your senses and eat my cooking."

Another rude comment by the housekeeper made Anabella sigh. But this condition was much more agreeable to her than the housekeeper's constant interference.

Anabella's refusal to say anything or comment made the housekeeper even madder, and Most rich people who had housekeepers did not know how to cook, much less create something they liked.

So, the natural thought process of the housekeeper went to Anabella ordering out or going to a restaurant.

It was considered humiliating for the housekeeper to be present and for the family to order out. But that was the housekeeper's intention.

She wanted to cry and tell others about what happened but in her own words. She tried to gain sympathy because the omega, her 'master' remarried, did not consider her worthy of providing for her.

If that was the housekeeper's intention, then Anabella was all for it. She did not care much for being badmouthed more than she was already dealing with.

Once the housekeeper noticed Anabella did not care for her opinion or even glance at her, her temper rose, and she finally returned home huffing.

That provided Anabella with enough time on her hands to enjoy the rest of her alone time.

Her day was mostly spent reading, a good escape from reality. She only realized how late it had gotten once she looked out and noticed the sound of the front door opening.

James came in with a happy grin, but he immediately looked away when he noticed Anabella and her presence. He looked like he had been caught doing something naughty, and his grim expression made Anabella sigh.

"I will head back to my room now. You can enjoy your time here."

She quickly picked up her stuff and decided to head back to her room.

James opened his mouth and made a complicated expression. He wanted to ask Anabella more questions but thought better and pulled back.

Anabella waited for the kid to say something to her the whole time, but it did not seem like he would spill the beans.

So, she ultimately had no choice but to head out with a heavy heart.

Anabella had a late lunch, so she did not need dinner. She had no idea what time her husband returned or what he had eaten.

She was happy to remain in her world, but someone knocked at her door just as she was about to fall asleep.

It forced Anabella to wake up from the bed and drag her body toward the door.

James's guilty and uncomfortable expression was the last thing she expected to see, making Anabella speechless.

"I'm here because Grandfather said you are the only one who can help me. I would much rather ask 'mother' to accompany me, but I don't want others to say mean things to her because she came.

So, I am here to ask you to come to my school meeting with me tomorrow. You will be able to come, right?"

James looked equally afraid and brave as he asked this question. His eyes shifted around the mostly empty room, but nothing held his attention for long.

Rather, nothing was around to hold his attention, which caused all this uneasiness.

Anabella noticed but felt awkward with the kid as the kid did with her.

Most people expected Anabella to be the bigger person here and adjust to the kid's pace and temper, but it was also difficult for her, especially when the person in front of her did not wish to make the same connection.

'Still, this is the first time James had asked me for something. I should at least hear him out.'

Anabella opened the door for James to enter, but he ignored her message and kept shifting from one foot to another.

"So, can you come to school tomorrow? Dad is busy, and you are the only one with some time on her hands."

James asked, and he looked nervous that Anabella would ignore his request. And truthfully, she had every desire to turn him down.

But at the very last second, she thought that she should give some credibility to James and his earnest desire. That was why Anabella sighed and decided to cut him some slack.

"Fine! I get it. I will come to your school tomorrow. Is there a dress code that I need to follow? Anything else that I need to remember?"

James looked caught up, but then he quickly shook his head.

"No! You just need to show up and stand behind me when it is time. You do not need even to speak if you don't want to."

The six-year-old alpha was smart and well-spoken, but he was still a child, and times like these showed it.

No matter how much of an alpha this kid thought he was, anyone would not take him seriously.

That included Anabella as well.

"You should go to sleep now. It is late, and we both need to get up early tomorrow. I will meet you before it is time for you to head out for school."

Anabella assured before she sent the kid back out.

Instantly, she was assaulted by her emotions, and she ended up leaning against the door.

"What a headache. I better get up early tomorrow and get ready. I will need to take a lot of medicine to prevent any accident from happening."

Anabella rubbed her forehead before she went back to her bed.

She was a wealthy upper class, which mostly meant that she was the prime target for people to get a raise. If they were able to humiliate her, then it was even better.

People rarely cared about her feelings before making assumptions about her character. So, most of the time, Anabella saw no point in playing or clearing her name.

That was all before she got married. But now that she had a family name to carry, she needed to be more careful about what and how she did things.

Sleep came easily to Anabella. It was easy for her to close her eyes and not think about anything.

Anabella woke up when her alarm woke her up. It was too early, and she did not want to drag herself off.

But getting ready was a chore she could not ignore, especially since it was connected to her reputation and her family name.

It took Anabella over two hours to get ready, and most of that time was spent on prep work that was not difficult. This work required her to leave creams on her face and body for a long time.

Once she was ready, she headed out. But she did make a face when she caught her reflection in the mirror.

'I should not have made my make-up this youthful! I do not want to pass off as James's sister accidentally. That would be an awkward situation to explain to people.'

Unfortunately, Anabella did not have enough time to book an appointment beforehand, and all she knew how to do was these youthful makeup looks.

She sighed before she made it to the breakfast table.

The only occupants of the table were James and her husband. Their housekeeper was in the kitchen, and she did not notice Anabella until she had already rested herself in the chair.

"What's up with you and the outfit? Is there some social event I am not aware of?"

Daniel asked as soon as he saw Anabella. He did not greet her or ask her how she was feeling. His only intention was to find a flaw with Anabella's appearance.

And from his looks, she could tell that he had already found plenty of them.
