Chapter 24: Bathroom Encounter

Alice had left Jermin's office, and was heading towards her car, when she was abruptly greeted by a scene of distress. Just a few steps down the entrance, a group of people were gathered around an elderly man, probably in his late 40s, lying unconscious on the floor. His face was pale and sweaty, his breathing shallow, and his body had gone limp—a classic sign of a cardiac event. Surrounding him were several bodyguards, their stiff postures betraying their anxiety, they looked very much like an influential family, but at this moment, a woman, likely in her 30s, knelt beside the man, her eyes wide with desperation. Despite her panic, there was an air of authority about her, her elegant clothes and demeanor hinting at significant influence. She was shouting frantically for a doctor, her cries echoing down the entrance.

Alice's instincts as a doctor surged to the surface, overriding any hesitation. Without a second thought, she moved toward the man, her eyes quickly assessing his condition. "He's having a heart attack," she diagnosed silently, noticing the faint bluish tint to his lips a clear sign that he wasn't getting enough oxygen. Without immediate intervention, he would go into full cardiac arrest.

Just as she was about to kneel beside the man, the woman beside him looked up, startled, and her expression twisted with doubt. "What are you doing?" the woman snapped, her gaze sweeping over Alice's youthful appearance. "You're too young to be a doctor! Leave him alone! The ambulance is already on its way! Don't make matters worse"

Alice's expression remained calm, though her voice held a hard edge. "He doesn't have time to wait for an ambulance," she said sharply, her words cutting through the chaos. "His heart's barely functioning. If I don't act now, he's not going to make it." She set her bag down and started pulling out a portable emergency kit, knowing she needed to begin CPR immediately.

But the woman wouldn't relent. Her face was pale with panic, and she grabbed Alice's wrist, holding her back. "No! You're not using my father to practice some skills!" she shouted, clearly convinced that Alice's youthful appearance equaled inexperience.

Alice's eyes narrowed, her tone turning icy. "I'm not here to practice," she said coldly, pulling her wrist free with a swift motion. "I'm here to save his life." She positioned herself next to the man, quickly checking his pulse and assessing the shallow rise and fall of his chest. Without wasting any more time, she began chest compressions, keeping her focus steady despite the woman's frantic objections.

The woman's cries grew louder. "Who's going to take responsibility if he dies because of you?" she screamed, her voice breaking with fear.

"I will," a deep, authoritative voice interjected, silencing the hallway. It was Jermin, who had emerged from his office, drawn by the commotion. His gaze was calm, yet piercing, and he seemed completely in control of the situation. "Let her work. I'll take full responsibility."

Jermin who had his own thought in mind, thinking that since this woman was Dr Anti If she said she could do it then she could. And also he could do her this favor maybe she could repay him by treating him?.

The woman's eyes widened, shock spreading across her face. This was Jermin Hunt known for his power and influence. She froze, speechless, her mouth opening and closing in astonishment. If Mr. Hunt, of all people, was willing to vouch for the young woman, there must be a reason.

She nodded slowly, withdrawing her objections and stepping back, her expression uncertain but resigned. She knew she could mess with anyone on this planet, but not Mr Hunt so she couldn't object.

Alice didn't hesitate. Now free from interruption, she continued the compressions, counting steadily under her breath. She grabbed the portable defibrillator from her kit, placing the pads on the man's chest. "Clear!" she ordered sharply, sending a jolt of electricity through his body. His chest jerked, and Alice's intense focus remained unbroken.

She checked his vitals again, pressing her fingers to his neck there was a faint, irregular pulse.

"He's stabilizing," she muttered to herself, relief barely touching her cool expression. Her hands moved quickly, administering medication to regulate his heart rhythm, then tilting his head back to ensure his airway was clear.

She continued the procedure with steady hands, her precise actions showing no trace of hesitation.

Moments later, the wail of approaching sirens filled the air, and the ambulance arrived. Paramedics rushed in, taking over with efficiency and care. One of them looked up after checking the patient's condition and couldn't hide his admiration. "Whoever did this must be a miracle doctor yes yes a miracle doctor" he said, clearly impressed. If they were to have come earlier, they would have diagnosed him dead as a heart arrest killed instantly, but it seemed the person managed to bring him back from the brink of death. "Without the person's intervention, he would have died."

The woman's eyes darted to Alice, a mixture of shock and realization dawning on her face. This young woman had been right all along, and she had clearly misjudged her. Swallowing her pride, she took a step forward, intending to thank the stranger who had saved her father's life. But when she looked around, Alice was already gone—the mysterious, cold figure had vanished as if she had never been there at all.

Jermin, who had watched the entire scene unfold, felt a strange mixture of admiration and certainty settle within him. He had seen enough to banish any lingering doubts about Alice's identity as Dr. Anti. The precision, the confidence, the skill—it was unmistakable. There was no room for skepticism anymore. He had underestimated her once, but now he knew exactly who she was...and what she was capable of.

As the woman trailed after the ambulance, her father safely in the paramedics' care, Jermin's gaze lingered in the direction Alice had gone, a small, almost imperceptible smile curving his lips. For the first time in a long while, he found himself at a loss for words—a rare feeling, indeed.

The next evening, Alice woke to the soft, dim light of her room, having slept through most of the day. Groggy but still refreshed, she decided it was time for her nightly shower routine. She slipped into her bathroom, ready to rinse away the remnants of sleep, only to be met with with an unexpected problem— there was no water. The shower was dry, the faucets silent.

Frowning, she quickly left the bathroom and found Mrs Naomi, the caregiver who managed the household matters. "Mrs. Naomi, the water isn't working in my bathroom. Do you know what's wrong?"

She asked eager to solve the problem quickly.

Mrs. Naomi looked up with a sympathetic smile I'm not sure, dear, but I'll report it to the hotel staff right away. In the meantime, you can use the spare bathroom in the villa. It's down the hall." She paused, adding with a small laugh,

"It's a bit of a walk, but it should have everything you need"

Not wanting to waste time, Alice nodded in agreement, turning to head down the hallway towards the spare bathroom. In her rush, she failed to notice the knowing smiles exchange between two figures in the room one big, and one small.

Alice walked down the hallway towards the spare bathroom. The villa was spacious and luxurious, and Alice hadn't had the chance to explore it since her arrival. It was built with elegance in mind, featuring two large living rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a balcony and two primary bedrooms her's and Jermin's. This was the first time she had ventured beyond her familiar space, feeling both intruiged and eager to get back to her comfort zone.

When she finally reached the spare bathroom, she was strucked by it's sheer size. It was far bigger than her own bathroom, almost like a personal spa, it had a luxurious design with two mini bathrooms on either side, facing each other. Without thinking she walked towards the one on the right, stripped off her clothes, and took a long, relaxing shower.

The warm water was soothing, cascading down her skin, washing away her earlier exhaustion.

Finished, she wrapped herself in a towel and walked to the attached clothing section, only to pause in dismay. The clothes stocked here were far too revealing, bold and sheer for her taste–slips of silk that were all lace and no substance. She had been so eager to shower that she had forgotten to bring her own nightwear from her room.

Left with no other option, with a resigned sigh, she picked up the least provocative and less revealing of the options, a short nightie that ended just above her thighs, it's fabric soft against her damp skin, with a low cut neckline that exposed her cleavage more than she liked.

After changing, she stepped out of the dressing area. She began to dry her hair with a towel lost in thoughts, when she felt another presence. She looked up abruptly, freezing In place her eyes widening in shock as she locked eyes with Jermin.
