Chapter 120: Chapter 120: A Favor

Derali watched in stunned disbelief as the Qiao family head and Feng Mo reached a decision on the Demon Star System's fate with just a few words. Was that it? Was the entire fate of this star system just decided? What about the fleet and forces stationed here? Derali had an urge to speak up, but for the sake of his life, he forced himself to stay silent. Perhaps it was wiser not to interfere.

"Lord Feng Mo, I, Qiao Mocheng, will now take my leave. I hope we have an opportunity to discuss fleet tactics in the future," Qiao Mocheng said, clasping his hands in a respectful gesture before ending the call. Without so much as a glance at Derali, he turned to his lieutenant, who promptly escorted Derali out of the control room and threw him back onto his own ship.

With this, Feng Mo had seized control of the Demon Star System without further bloodshed. The process was not without complications, but ultimately, it was settled with favors and diplomacy rather than force.

On the other end of the video, Hua Yucheng, looking a bit embarrassed, said, "We've barely contributed to this campaign, and instead, you've had to exchange a personal favor to secure the Demon Star System. The Hua family cannot, in good conscience, take any portion of the system's dividends."

Feng Mo waved a hand dismissively. "Let's do it this way: the Hua and Chu families will each receive a 1% share of the Demon Star System's profits, in perpetuity. This is a promise from me. Once the kingdom is established, the Chu and Hua families will share in its prosperity."

"Lord Feng Mo, we, Chu Yunjian and Hua Yucheng, thank you on behalf of our families. To stand by your side is an honor for both the Chu and Hua families," Yucheng said, visibly moved.

With these words, the two families formally pledged allegiance to Feng Mo. While they had been allies before, this was a deeper commitment. Feng Mo was no longer just a regional lord; he held three major fleets, vast territories, formidable starships, and an extensive population—making him a power in his own right. For Hua Yucheng, being an early supporter of Feng Mo had paid off. Unlike the Yue clan, who, despite their ties to Yue Xiaomeng, had maintained only a surface-level connection with Feng Mo, the Chu family had invested much more deeply, even sending their eldest daughter to support him. Now, they had secured an invaluable promise.

With these formalities settled, Feng Mo finally turned his attention to Derali, who now sat slumped in the control room, defeated. Feng Mo gave him a faint smile and said, "The fight has reached its end. I don't wish to see more bloodshed. Surrender your fleet, and I will spare your life."

Derali's look of despair was momentarily replaced by surprise. He hadn't expected Feng Mo to show mercy, especially as he had been one of Lawrence's closest aides. But Feng Mo wasn't motivated by mercy alone—he wanted stability. The recent battle had already seen over a thousand ships destroyed and millions of lives lost. To avoid any chance of rebellion or unrest, he decided to pacify the remaining forces first.

"A bloated army with rotten elements does need pruning," Feng Mo thought. "But hasty actions could cause greater resistance."

Then, he issued further orders. "Elf Fleet, return and guard the Storm Star System. Explorer Fleet, stay in the Demon Star System, seize all ships, and begin patrolling and exploring resource planets. All Storm Fleet ships, deploy to resource planets within the Demon Star System. Ai Er will coordinate the operations."

With these tasks off his shoulders, Feng Mo could now focus on something more pressing. The Spark System had already notified him of a mission completion.

[Mission: Overthrow the Demon Star System and personally eliminate the Demon Lord (Completed)]

Reward: 3,000 points, T4 Combat Armor Upgrade Blueprints

He accepted his rewards promptly.

[Reward received: 3,000 points, T4 Combat Armor Upgrade Blueprints]

The blueprints allowed for an upgrade to the T3 Black Radiance Combat Armor he had acquired earlier. Initially, he only had enough memory metal for one suit, but later, Chu Yunjian had secured additional memory metal from the Chu family's vault, enabling him to create three sets for Ai Er, Kylan, and Chu Yunjian, ensuring their safety.

Upon checking the materials required for the upgrade, his suspicions were confirmed. It required dark matter and dark energy crystals, two resources he was always in short supply of, especially given his plans to build a quasi-T5 starship. However, he had just enough in reserve for the armor upgrades.

With a sizable point balance, Feng Mo considered redeeming a T4-class interstellar carrier and retrofitting it as his second quasi-T5 flagship. The destructive power of the carriers used by the Hua and Chu families had caught his attention. After searching through the Spark System, he finally found a suitable option: the T4 Colossal-class Interstellar Carrier with the following specifications:

T4 Colossal-class Interstellar Carrier:

Armor Strength: 400 units

Dimensions: 3 km x 660 m x 579 m

Speed: 300 knots (stellar speed)

Warp Engine: Level 4

Star Shield Energy: Level 4, 100%

Weaponry: 500 T4-class starfighters, 200 T4-class kamikaze drones, 200 T4-class bombers, 100 T4-class armor-piercing ships

While its overall specs were standard for a T4-class ship, the drones were designed explicitly for ship-to-ship combat, especially the armor-piercing fighters engineered to penetrate a starship's hull.

Next, he began planning the upgrades to turn it into a quasi-T5 flagship. To discuss the modifications, Feng Mo sought out Alisa in her new office. This time, she wasn't indulging in snacks or pestering him for a raise; instead, she was overseeing a meeting, organizing a new round of starship production.

Feng Mo waited patiently as Alisa, normally playful and indulgent, adopted a commanding presence, her 4-foot frame radiating authority. Her subordinates were visibly cowed under her intense direction.

After the meeting concluded, Feng Mo discussed the flagship upgrades with Alisa. Over the following year, Feng Mo became almost a ghost, frequently disappearing, while Alisa's involvement in starship construction kept her equally elusive.

In that year, the Federation, recovering from initial upheavals, launched a comprehensive purge. The rise of the New Human Church had been enabled by internal collaboration, and the Federation's response was swift and severe: all involved individuals and families, once exposed, were eradicated entirely.

Meanwhile, the Demon Star System, now a mid-sized star system under Feng Mo's rule, still held many unexplored regions and untapped resources. Over the next year, Laila managed law enforcement across the system, while Lacey led part of the Explorer Fleet to conduct a comprehensive survey of the Demon Star System.

She compiled a report and submitted it to Hua Qin in Feng Mo's new office on the Demon Star. The office was formerly Lawrence's opulent palace, now stripped of its excessive gold and glamor in favor of more understated decor. Feng Mo never cared much for gaudy displays and felt the original palace was tacky, so he had it renovated to suit his taste.
