Chapter 21: The Great Magic Zone(1)

Two silhouettes appeared in the air once again. This time, they wore travel-appropriate outfits, with backpacks slung over their shoulders. Their spatial bags were packed to the brim.

— Hey, David, why do we need so much stuff? — Asta asked, looking at his companion with confusion. — This gear could last us ages!

— Because we won't be visiting any villages or towns for almost a month, — David replied calmly. — We're heading to the Great Magic Zone. I want to check out the local fauna there. Rumor has it someone spotted an unidentified creature in the area. I want to see it for myself.

— Oh, I see… So where are we going after that? — Asta asked with curiosity.

David adopted a thoughtful expression, remaining silent for a few moments before answering:

— Most likely, we'll visit all the towns in Clover. There's a lot to see there. And in the last few months, I suppose you'll head back home. You're turning fifteen soon, right? That means you'll get your grimoire.

Hearing this, Asta lit up with excitement:

— That's right! I wonder what kind of grimoire I'll get!

— Yeah, it's definitely interesting... Though, will you even get one? — David mused aloud. — You don't have any magic, after all. Maybe there are grimoires that don't require magic, but I've never heard of such things.

Asta's face instantly fell. He shot David an annoyed look and grumbled:

— Don't jinx it!

But then, as if remembering something, he asked:

— By the way, what will you do when I leave? You'll be on your own for a while, won't you?

Without hesitation, David replied:

— I'll stay in the elite beach town of Raki.

— Oh, really! — Asta exclaimed, stars lighting up in his eyes.

Noticing this, David smirked:

— Don't worry. You'll be there with me. After all, it's not just the beach worth seeing—it's also the beautiful girls in bikinis.

Asta began to let his imagination run wild, mentally painting a vivid picture. However, his musings were abruptly interrupted by a flap of Sekre's wing, smacking him in the face a few times as if to tell him not to even dare.

They continued their journey until they finally reached the border of the Great Magic Zone.

— Listen, Asta, I'm running low on mana, — David said, surveying their surroundings. — We'll have to go on foot from here. Besides, due to the local anomalies, it's hard for me to control my mana. So we'll be walking the whole month.

— Great! — Asta exclaimed enthusiastically. — I'm all for it! Running is awesome!

After some time, their path was blocked by a creature—a mana beast with an unusual mark on its back. The moment it noticed Asta, the beast immediately attacked, firing icy arrows.

Asta quickly pulled a shield from his spatial bag and absorbed the ice. Then, drawing a sword with a ruby embedded in it, he unleashed an anti-magic blast, temporarily halting the beast. Wasting no time, Asta charged into close combat.

Even though mana beasts were always physically stronger than humans, Asta proved to be faster and stronger. Within a minute, the battle was over: Asta decapitated the monster. The beast's lifeless body fell to the ground with a dull thud.

Approaching the corpse, David examined it closely. Noticing a strange star-shaped mark on its back, he muttered thoughtfully:

— A Joestar birthmark... Seems like Dio didn't care who—Fu uh…

— Did you say something? — Asta asked, puzzled, looking at his companion.

— No, nothing, forget it. Just talking to myself, — David waved him off. — Alright, let's move on.

And so, they continued their journey through the Great Magic Zone.

---

Just to clarify, there won't actually be any Joestars. That was just a random joke that came to mind while I was drifting off to sleep.
