Chapter 9: Going back home (9)

However, he really had to focus his eyes on Eren and ignore everything else in order to even notice that fact.

The amount of energy he was losing was so abysmal that if he didnt know that Eren was a titan shifter beforehand then he probably wouldn't have noticed it.

This meant his Byakugan could still be upgraded to a brand new level and that was always good.

He couldn't wait to upgrade his eyes to the level they needed to be.

Now, maybe he could use those 3 kids in order to get a rough idea of what was happening in the camps below.

"So, what brings you three out here in the middle of the forest?" He asked quite casually as he roasted his rabbit over the fire...

Jeez, he needed seasoning, however knowing about the food shortage happening within the walls, he knew that the spice and stuff that he was used to in his old life would probably be very hard to get.

He probably would have to hunt for them.

Eren wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. " We were hunting. There is barely any food in the camp, I refuse to just live on a piece of bread every day, I refuse to just sit down and wait for my death"

The boy practically declared, jeez he had a shit tone of energy.

That was good to know.

Even without his Byakugan active he could practically see the bones of those kids, they didnt seem like they were well-fed.

Considering they were speaking about concentration camps, this should have taken place roughly around a year before they entered the training camp to join the survey corp.

So he had a year to train his gentle fist even more than he had already, that was good to know.

"You all seem pretty determined"

Mikasa who was basically quiet the whole time finally opened her mouth and spoke up.

"It's not the best....but we get by"

That was understandable, though he did wonder, considering her muscle density was so strong, her body should require a tone of food.

And yet she seemed fine, something was going on that he didnt get.

"Why are you up here all alone?" Eren asked the suspicion in his voice was quite evident.

"Oh that's simple, I live here,"

"Where are your parents?" Armin asked as he finished chewing his food.

"They were killed....some black market people came up the mountain and took them, luckily they were able to guard me but my parents weren't so lucky," He said as he kept roasting his bunny to perfection.

"Oh...I am sorry, I didnt mean-"

Before Armin could finish speaking Akira cut him saying.

"It's alright, you didnt know"

Akira then proceeded to continue cooking his food, making sure that it was fully cooked, before taking a huge bite out of it.

The meat was just so soft and tender, he truly enjoyed eating it.

Every bite felt like he was biting into a soft cloud, the only thing that could make this better would be some seasoning.

Eating bland meat was never really fun.

He needed to find a way to create seasoning somehow, he may have had very white ancestors but his tongue craved actually seasoned food.

That part should have been obvious considering he was raised by his grandma, someone who was good at putting seasoning in food.

Her foods were the best, alongside her recipes for making them.

Even now he remembers the recipes.....

..

..

..

He remembered the recipes....his goal was set.

Next time he goes on a hunt he will hunt down all the ingredients for his seasoning so that the next time he cooks the food is not bland.

He would then gaze at the three kids infront of him.

He would stand up before stretching his body a bit saying.

"Alright see you guys later"

"What about the food?"

"Just come here every afternoon, this is where I usually eat, you can serve yourself to it"

"...thank you..."

He just waved them off as he walked away, he walked for a solid hour before he reached his house.

Yes, he had eaten far away from his house, and he was being followed by 3 kids, of course, he wouldn't show them where he lived, he didnt want any trouble knocking at his door.

It was best that they did not even know the general location of where he lived in this vast forest.

The less they knew about him, the better it was in his humble opinion.

He was not yet ready for the horror of the attack on Titan World.

He wanted to get strong fast before he went down the mountain in order to join the scout regimen.

He wanted to see what the outside world had to offer for someone like him.

But first, he needed to hide his eyes a bit, he needed to hide his eyes.

He just needed to find a way to still show he was a Hyuga.
