Chapter 7: 007

A few weeks later,

The Red Keep, the Small Council.

"I told you, Jon! I told you to kill them! But you didn't listen!" The fat pig roared at his hand, his lips leaking the wine he had drunk.

His blue eyes shone fiercely as he looked at the old man. His body shivered with rage and anger while he reminisced about his love, Lyanna Stark.

"Those dragon bastards should be killed!" he shouted, gritting his teeth.

Varys, Cersei, Littlefinger, and Renly, for whom Robert cursed the Targaryens for the umpteenth time in the short time soon after the meeting.

Cersei waited until her 'love' had calmed down and spoke first, "My love, the Targaryens are now all alone. They have run away from the only patron who wished to support them. As for the dragon eggs, they are petrified; they bear no life in them."

Everyone frowned at the queen's words. Her words were sound, no doubt. There was no reason to fear the return of the Targaryens anymore.

Their only patron was stolen from, and they are just two kids running away into the mountains of Essos.

'But why?' Varys questioned himself. He couldn't understand for the life of him why Viserys would do it.

'He should have been happy, ecstatic even. But he ran away, along with the petrified dragon eggs.'

He could still remember the letter Illyrio wrote to him. The fat man had half-filled the letter with nothing but curses for Viserys.

'How did he know about the dragon eggs? Did Illyrio boast to him about them?'

Varys's mind was racing, thinking about his next steps when he heard a snicker.

He looked toward Renly Baratheon, a man who isn't suited at the table of men.

Renly was a green flower who romanticized war; after all, he had never fought on the battlefield.

"Heh! That kid must have thought of hatching them!" he snickered again.

But Varys shook his head and turned to Robert and said, "My birds have sung to me that the eggs bore no life, Your Grace. They are now nothing but a mere decoration."

SNORT

Robert did nothing but snort at the eunuch. He poured himself another glass of wine and drowned himself in it.

Cersei watched her husband, her 'love.' She snickered at the thought inwardly, 'My only love is my Jamie!' She exclaimed to herself.

He had given him a bright boy, Joffrey. Who looked just like him. But this pig, he knew nothing but drinking and whoring himself while his realm rots in increasing debt.

The council continued with the lords talking about the realm while Robert yelled occasionally.

...

Somewhere near the Noyne River in Essos.

Viserys and Dany had come far from Pentos. He stayed on the road to Norvos for half a day before they entered the wild.

There were no pursuers, but Viserys stayed vigilant as they crossed the river's tributaries.

They need to cross another tributary to reach the forest when they come across a problem.

Before, while crossing the river, they used smuggled routes, small wooden bridges built across the river by smugglers. Sometimes they asked for the local people's help; nothing a gold coin can't do.

But the problem Viserys now faced was, "We are taking them with us!"

"NO!!" Viserys said as he looked at his baby sister sternly.

Daenerys, too, glared back at her brother, her little arms on her waist while she gritted her teeth in annoyance.

"They are coming with us!" Dany said again, her voice a little louder than before.

The ones Dany was referring to were three sisters who were about a year or two older than Viserys.

The three sisters are girls who were to be sold as slaves by the nearby village, but Dany was insisting that they come with them.

Viserys looked at the sisters; they had black hair and brown skin with gray colored eyes.

The older one was with a three-month-old girl; apparently, the sisters were raped continuously before it was decided that they would be sold.

Viserys did pity them; his eyes softened when they looked at him with pleading eyes.

Their lifeless gaze from before now had a small sliver of hope: 'All because of my little sister.'

'It's not that I am against taking them, but taking them would be a hassle. It will decrease our speed and increase the need for food,' Viserys mused.

They mostly fed on fish from the river whenever they were near and depended on bread, which he bought in one of the villages when they were not.

But his attention soon went to the youngest of the sisters when she knelt before him and pleaded, "Please, Lord, we beg you! We will be useful!"

Viserys turned away from her; he didn't want to see a woman beg him. His memories as a demon slayer surfaced; they screamed at him to take care of them. 'Protect the weak from the demons of the world, huh?'

'But who should I protect if everyone here is akin to a demon?' Viserys thought to himself. He looked toward his sister. 'The only one I wish to protect is her.'

Dany looked at her brother, annoyance and frustration taking root in her heart. 'Why can't we take them? Aren't they pitiful? They have no one but themselves! Brother is strong; I am sure he can take care of them!' she exclaimed inwardly.

The siblings met each other's gazes, each unwilling to yield to the other. After what seemed like a long time, Viserys relented, "Ugh, fine!"

"Yay!" Dany erupted in happiness! She dashed toward him and hugged him tightly! "I love you, Brother!" she proclaimed with a big smile on her face.

The three sisters, too, had big smiles on their faces, with the eldest one hugging her baby girl tightly.

Viserys looked at three sisters. 'At least, Dany won't feel isolated and will have friends,' he mumbled to himself.

Looking at them, "You three will take care of my sister." Turning to the eldest girl, he added, "You can take care of the baby until she is old enough to walk. After that, you, along with your daughter, will be under Dany."

The three sisters nodded like chickens as they listened to Viserys; Dany's smile widened as she looked at her brother.

"But…" Viserys frowned. The rest followed with him. His eyes narrowed at the sisters, rage and anger bellowing from his heart; he growled, "If you try to hurt her, I will kill you."

His eyes glowed as he warned the sisters, who shivered under his gaze.

Dany frowned at her brother; she was about to speak in for the sisters when the eldest among them stepped forward and bowed as she replied, "Rest assured, my lord. We will take care of the lady as if she's our own. We will put ourselves before her if she's in danger." She said earnestly.

Viserys's eyes softened as he nodded his head and informed, "Good, then rest for tonight. We will move at dawn. I will try to find a way to cross the river."

Just as he finished, the middle one walked forward, her body shivering under Viserys's gaze.

Viserys watched the girl intently; the middle one was a shy one from what he had observed.

'But I have to say, the girls are strong! They could remain themselves even after all they went through!' Viserys commented inwardly while his gaze softened at the girl.

"U-Um, my Lord, C-Can I speak?" the girl stuttered.

An amused smile bloomed on Viserys's face as he nodded his head.

The girl meekly raised her head and said, "I-I know a way to cross the river, my Lord."
