Hesitation swirled in Ashley's eyes after she and Nathan were left alone. She then inhaled before dropping the question. "Where's grand-I mean Chairman Li."
The man stared down at her, his eyes flickering slightly. "He's a bit unwell so he decided not to come." Worry circled in the young woman's eyes, and she couldn't resist questioning him. "Is he okay?" Realizing what she had done, she scowled briefly before turning to face elsewhere. "He's fine."
Ashley nodded. The man spoke once more. "Grandpa is not at fault. I asked him to pretend. So, if you should be mad at anyone, it should be me. And not him."
The young woman furrowed her brows. She knew Nathan was trying to repair hers and the old man's relationship by resolving the conflict, but she wasn't ready to tackle the issue. "He still went ahead with it, so I'll blame him too. I'm sure he wouldn't want his beloved grandson taking all the blame." She scoffed haughtily before leaving the man's side.
