Chapter 27: Come to the city quickly
On the other end of the landline, when Yan Wanning heard Bai Meiyue cry, her eyes couldn't help but sting. She felt even more guilty and upset with herself. Back when Bai Qingshi cheated on her, that man deliberately put forth the condition to let Bai Meiyue follow him.
He told her that compared to her, he was living a better life in the city, as long as Bai Meiyue came to live with him in the city, she would live a comfortable life.
Back then, life in the village was indeed too hard and Bai Meiyue was also tempted and bribed by Bai Qingshi. Her daughter demanded and stubbornly insisted that she wanted to follow her father.
Thus, Yan Wanning agreed to let Bai Meiyue follow her ex-husband. She thought that even if Bai Qingshi didn't have any feelings towards her and their children, at the end of the day, Bai Meiyue was his daughter.
He would at least look for a decent match for her.
Only now did Yan Wanning realise that she was being too naive! That man was simply a beast in human clothing; how could he care for Bai Meiyue?
"Don't cry, Yueyue. I will ask your brothers to go to the city and deal with this matter for you. Bai Qingshi went too far; there is no way; we are going to let him go this time."
"Mom! Mom! I don't want you to deal with Bai Qingshi! I just want you to come to the city; I miss you a lot," she paused and said, "I have no money…Bai Qingshi took all my money, mom! I am all alone with no money in my hands."
Bai Meiyue didn't lie; she didn't want her brothers or mother to dirty their hands by dealing with Bai Qingshi or his precious family. She was enough to deal with them.
As for not having any money, she had no choice but to lie and bring her mother and brothers to the city. There was no point in staying at the village; in a few weeks, a super tsunami would drown the entire world.
When that happens, what use would the pieces of land in the village be?
More importantly, if she did not bring her mother and brothers to the city, then her two nephews would be sold by her elder sister-in-law!
Bai Meiyue rubbed her eyes and reminded herself to control herself and not to cry. If she cried, then her son would definitely become a cry baby when he grows up. But no matter how much she tried to stop herself, Bai Meiyue could not help but cry wretchedly. What was she supposed to do?
Her heart was aching too much. She hadn't only failed in protecting Little Bai; she also failed in saving her mother and brothers as well as everyone else whom she had cared for.
Bai Meiyue couldn't help but think that she was really a failure in her past life.
It was alright; the heavens were not blind and gave her a second chance to do it all over.
Bai Meiyue swore that this time around she was not going to make the same mistakes as she did in her past life and correct each and every one of them. She wanted nothing more than her family and loved ones to live a better life and not live in terror like they used to in the past.
Yan Manning was scared out of her wits when she heard Bai Meiyue cry until she was out of breath. But before she could ask Bai Meiyue anything, her daughter said to her in a hurry,
"Mom, bring as much money as you can—I really cannot live my life like this—and bring Little Yu and Xu with you as well. It has been so many years, I didn't even get a chance to pick them in my arms."
Even though Chu Xia ruined her and her brothers, that woman did not think that it was enough. Thus, that woman schemed against her eldest brother. She had him drugged and tangled with a shrew in their village.
This woman was not only fat and ugly; she was also lazy and loved to act like a tyrant. And yet, Bai Zhan, who believed that he took advantage of that woman, treated her well.
But how could it be possible for a woman chosen by Chu Xia to sit still? Once Fang Qing married Bai Zhan, that woman showed off her true colours almost immediately.
Not only did she suppress her brothers and mother, but that woman also forced her brother to supplement and raise her maternal family.

If that was all, Bai Meiyue would have let Fang Qing off. But that woman! She actually sold her nephews in the post-apocalyptic world in exchange for a little meat!

Bai Meiyue would have loved to do that now but she knew that now was not the time. She couldn't travel back and forth to the village; thus, she could only ask her brothers and mother to bring her nephews to the city.
It was better for those two kids to stay with her and Bai Zhan.
If they follow their mother, they will die very soon.
"Yueyue, your nephews—"
"Mom, don't refuse. Just come quickly; I am in a really bad place. You don't know how Bai Qingshi bullied me and then tried to sell me to an old man who was older than my grandpa. I was lucky that I escaped but I still don't feel good. If you don't come, then I don't know how I will survive!"
"So come to the city as soon as possible and bring as much money as possible or I will die on the streets because of starvation!"
